The Sunday Message

Good morning and bless you for being here to listen to God’s word as I have interpreted it. 🙏

Last week we began the study of Proverbs. We learned that Proverbs are not promises, but contain riddles, pithy sayings, and parables. We also learned that they are the basic principles of wisdom and discipline. They provide our moral compass.

Today’s verses ask us to learn from the experiences of our parents. Listen to them when they tell us that we will be tempted by evildoers but we should not give in. To walk down the wrong path. Ask God for wisdom and discernment and He will give it to you.

“Nothing good can be earned through ill-gotten gains.”

Don’t steal from people to make yourself look better. Don’t be lured into money making schemes, they will only lead to your destruction.

”you reap what you sow.”

1.) The pursuit of wickedness leads to calamity. (1:10-19)

Even Christians can be convinced to make bad choices.

We need to admit that we alone cannot achieve what is needed to enter eternity, only by trusting and believing God can we get there. We are not accountable to ourselves but to God. He is our ultimate “boss.” However, He is also a loving God who forgives…if we ask Him to.

You will be blessed if you accept the wisdom you are learning.

2.) The neglect of wisdom brings disaster.

Suggested reading:( James 1:5)

This passage in James illustrates what happens when we seek wealth as the way to measure our happiness and fulfillment. It leads us right back to the Proverb of reaping what you sow.

It also tells us that we will be blessed if we turn the sinner away from sin.

Learn the wisdom that Proverbs provides and help others to do the same and you will be rewarded in Heaven.
