No Action Yet

Hey everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the preparations for the holidays.

Myself, not so much, except for the joy of giving. I have had to do my shopping online, and I have one more person to take care of. It makes me so happy to be able to get my granddaughter gifts and watch her open them through videos from her mama.

As for me and the ongoing saga of my back issues, I got my MRI back and the results are a bit scary and I want to get seen as soon as possible. However, until I can get my primary Dr at the Ft Worth Va to do a traveling vet consult, they claim they can’t get me going here in Florida.

I’ve been calling Ft Worth for two days explaining the urgency yet still no call.

So, tomorrow I’m going back to the emergency dept and bypass the system again. My MRI showed bulging and/or herniated discs, a mass on my spine, probably a cyst, and spinal stenosis. Additionally, (knowing I have PKD) they saw multiple cysts on all my organs like the kidney and spleen. I don’t know if that’s as bad as cysts on my kidneys, but they want to do an ultrasound and for me to get seen by a neurosurgeon.

I’m to take it easy until I get seen because of the concern of nerve damage, and they asked me had I lost control of my bodily functions. Thank God, no, but I am much weaker in the right leg and cannot rise up on my tiptoes at all. Or pull my feet toward me unless I pull them. These are all concerning to the Dr I spoke to on the phone. He even told me if I don’t get action or if anything gets worse to go back to the emergency dept.

I’m trying to think positive and I’m praying for no surgery. That would be a great Christmas present!

To all of you, I wish the merriest of Christmases, and the Best New Year’s celebration ever!!.

  1. At least you know there are physical reasons for your pain. I hope you get the clearance you need so that they can do things to help you.

  5. Oh, Kim! I hate to read all of this, but I’m hopeful you won’t require any surgery and that there’s nothing more serious going on (re: masses and cysts). Peace and blessings to you. Please try not to stress yourself out. I know that’s easier said than done. *Big hugs*

    1. Thank you, Tre. I’m praying for that as well. At least I got set up for a shot on Jan 2 that should block the nerve pain. Then we’ll go from there.

    1. That’s k you so much! I’ll be pain free on Jan 2 when I get the nerve block injection. Can’t wait! Then on the 8th, I’ll get established with a primary doc who can start the process of getting me to the specialists I need.

  7. That’s a lot of challenging medical feedback to make sense out of…and then respond to. May 2024 bring some positive health news!!!
