A-Z Challenge Jasper

Jasper, polished and raw.

I didn’t bring my rocks this trip, but Jasper is a much sought type of stone. I have some, I’m sure of it, and it does look beautiful once polished. Lots of jewelry pieces feature Jasper for its gorgeous color.

The example above looks like a sunset with palm trees drawn in, but it’s simply natural beauty!

Click the link above in the first sentence and it will take you to the Rock Seeker newsletter I get featuring all the stones and their makeup. This one describes Jasper and all different types and colors!

I do wish I had some of my own here to show you, but if i find one in my tool bag, I will. I’m pretty sure I made a caged pendant with one.

From Wikipedia

Jasper is an aggregate type of Chalcedony used for ornamentation a gemstone.

Jaspillite is a banded-iron formation rock that often has bands of jasper.

I may have examples of both hidden somewhere in my rock collection, all of which is on the bus, which is in the shop…STILL! Now that I’m reviewing one of them, I wish I had them, I’m eager to start tumbling again!

  1. That’s a pretty rock! I keep a variety of them on my dresser.

    1. You should take a pic and show me sometime. I keep some in my tiny bathroom too, like some people put out flowers. I have a tiny vase surrounded my rocks, with a pine cone in the place of a flower, lol.

    1. Lol, Dan! Hey, it also looks like a fruitcake!
I still look around on the ground everywhere we go…which annoys David, but that’s just the rockhound in me!
