Hey y’all!
Last night we did indeed cap off our 4th of July by going higher up on the mountain to view the fireworks from Mancos.
I took the photo in the header image first, and by the way, we were not alone, there were some campers in a fifth wheel, a random truck, and another vehicle on our right with a couple and their three dogs. They were off leash but behaved beautifully. Anyway, I took the second photo as the sun started setting. Which is better?

Looking above the random truck at the mountain ridge, do you see the Sleeping Ute? Its an image of an Indian of the Ute tribe, sleeping with his arms crossed over his chest. You can only see it from certain places and this place was perfect. God’s beauty was much better-in our opinion- than the fireworks, which looked pretty small from 9,000ft up.
I’d put a video on, but you know my history with that, so I’ll do a still to illustrate.

Even that was hard to do and make them show up.
By the time we got home, it was our normal bedtime, but we stayed up to watch Carol Burnett. Lol, we sound like a couple of old fogies don’t we? We did absolutely nothing but our normal routine yesterday, so I was happy to freeze my tutu off to enjoy the fireworks. Thank goodness I had a sweater and later Dave gave me his coat, but I had pedal pushers and sandals on, so my feet were still cold.
Still, we enjoyed it very much, we took the ride back home in the dark, very slow because the recent rains made the road like a washboard! Very, very rough and bumpy, but at least they didn’t close the gate on us! I would have hated to spend the night in the car on the mountainside!
