Stories From the Road

Night before last, I took a beautiful picture of a sunset on the way to see Holly and Jeff one more time, pick up a pkg, and receive the fresh eggs they gave us. They were so great and hospitable we had the best visit!

Seems like so much time has passed since we started our trek home, but that’s how it is on the road. Long days, random thoughts, even more random observations. I could tell you some of the weird things we’ve seen, but lets keep it G-rated and I’ll show you the St. Louis, Missouri Arch and the Mississippi River. But first, a barn for Dan.

I like this style

Sorry for the window reflections, pics are hard from a moving bus. I don’t know what church that is, but it was pretty. I took a pic of a different kind of farm and barns too. I guess its a grain farm due to all the corn around that area.

Last night we spent the night in a bright spot off the interstate. I was bummed that we couldn’t see the fabulous Arora Bourealous because of all the lights. However, it was wonderful for a park-yourself type RV Park. Safe, well-lit, clean, and orderly. We pulled straight back onto the interstate this morning. On a walk to try to find a dark spot to see the Northern lights, I met a sweet lady and we had the best chat. That’s what I like about RV Life. We stood and grabbed for about twenty minutes.

We were west of St Louis and should have been able to see them. My friend in Indiana caught some beautiful pics I can share here.

Today we had many miles of bad road, so Dave was quite ready for a beer and a rest soon after we landed here in Muskogee, Ok. This is a brand new park and I like what they have done so far. The office is so new that the windows still have the stickers on them. The lot is gravel, I hope that changes later. The spots are wide and set up with grills and picnic tables. The hookups have been fancy and protected at the last two parks we’ve stayed at instead of poles stuck in the ground.

(We wanted to avoid Tulsa, so we came down Hwy 69.)

Tomorrow we will be back in North Richland Hills at my brother’s house. I’m ready for some room to move around but as far as beds, I like ours better. Oh well.

We have lots to do while we are there, but all I can think of is the misery of off loading the bus into Kevins house, then moving again when we find our own place. I’ll get through it though. It seems every time it’s time to do that it’s Africa hot and we are in a bad mood from a long day of driving. I’m going to say my prayers tonight for a good attitude and outlook!

  1. Thanks for the barn! That’s an interesting one, for sure. I also love seeing bridges and the rivers they cross. I hope the unloading/loading goes well. I can’t imagine, as I don’t even like packing and unpacking the car when I drive to Pittsburgh for a week or even a long weekend.

    1. Yes, its a beastly chore that feels so much better when its done. Til we have to do it in reverse to leave again, lol! That’s life on the road!
