The Sunday Message

PHILIPPIANS 2:1 | 1012
Imitating Christ’s Humility
2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Today’s message is based on these versesn, but before we start, I want to show you the kiddos who put on the Christmas program this morning. My, how we have grown since just two years ago!!

I wish that the video would work so you could hear how great they sounded.

Moving on, today’s message comes from Phillipians 2:1-4 (above) which talks about the humility of God.

The fact that Jesus is all powerful and omniscient yet not King-like in His actions or attitude shows his humility.

He blessed us with the ability to have a relationship with Him. (2:1)

We should be encouraged to be in Unity with Him.

We should feel and appreciate the comfort of His love.

We should participate in the fellowship of the spirit.

He led with tenderness and compassion.

2) Jesus’ gifts should be shared vertically.

There are approximately 3 billion people of the 8 billion on the planet who have never heard the good news of the gospel. They don’t know who God is.

We should be humble in all of our relationships. Marriages, friendships, you and your children’s are all better through humility.

3) Healthy relationships begin with humility.

Romans 12:3 basically says we should get over ourselves and focus more on others. Do something positive for others without expecting thanks.
