How to Treat People Part II

Open Bible with beautiful sunset

Good morning and thanks for being here!

Today we are looking at the second half of the chapter of Proverbs we started last week. 24:23-34

The three groups we talked about were: The Wicked, The Innocent, and The Sluggard

23-26 partiality is not good in judging. If you all wrong wrong and right right than you shall be blessed. In other words, call it like it is.

This characterizes our culture and society. Speak the truth, but like Jesus did, be gracious about it. “Honesty is like a kiss on the lips.”

28- Dont testify against your neighbor without cause, lest you use your lips to mislead.

29- Don’t say, “I’ll get payback.” Read Isaiah 5-20 and Romans 12-19

Basically, it says, “Do not take revenge, but leave room for God’s wrath.”

Do not gloat either. Let God handle the unjust.

I. We Should Rebuke The Wicked While Not Seeking Revenge But Protect The Innocent. (23-26, 28, 29)

Don’t judge hypocritically. 1 Corinthians 5-12

1Corinthians 5:11 – Maintain the good nature and reputation of the church. Church discipline is done with love for their own good.

Titus 53-10 “Warn a decisive person once, twice, and then have nothing to do with them.”

Pastor John then tells the story of a time in the past history of the church when a certain woman died, and rumors were saying she died of an overdose. His wife asked a person who told her that where she heard it from and she told her it was a person from our congregation (no longer goes here) and then another time at another store she heard it again. Again, it was coming from the same lady so she went to her house and confronted her to stop the rumor, she did not die from an overdose, but of natural causes! That they had the autopsy.

Three issues to deal with within the church family are

Immorality

Division

Personal sins

The next passage deals with sluggatds (lazy people)

27- Put your field in order and then you can build your house.

In other words, have a well-ordered life.

30-34 If the vineyard is unkempt, poverty will be on you like a thief. Maintain your land and crops, lest you have no food and go hungry. Be pro-active and have a well-ordered private life too. Control your thoughts so they stay to the positive. Do this by actively pursuing the Word and being in it daily.

The three phases of life are Work, Education, Returement

II. We Should Learn From the Example Of The Sluggard And Prepare for The Next Phase of Our Lives. (24-27, 30-34)

Trust in Jesus Christ

The Bad News: The wages of sin is death.

The Good News: Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sin.

Don’t forget that it is Global Prayer Week! Spread the Bible App of your choice and get the good news out there.

Im still sharing Mike Edwards book and asking those people to pass it on.

Gravity, True for you but Not for Me.

Have a blessed day and again, thank you for being here!
