No, I’m not in Floriday but I did watch church online there. ☺️
We aren’t even going to look for a new church until we know where we are going to live, and we might be knowing that soon, PTL!!
We looked at a house a second time today and it’s for sale by owner…Im pretty sure it’s ours if we want it!
More on that later.
Today’s message was focused on trusting Jesus to keep us protected and safe like baby chicks under their mother’s wing.
Pastor Blalock illustrated the point with the story of Ruth and Boaz. I know and love that story!
Ruth was trying to ensure that she could feed herself and her mother-in-law Naomi and went down to the threshing floor to harvest whatever grain she could from the leftovers others missed. Boaz saw her and told her not to go to anyone else’s field, that she could work in his field and he would protect her and keep her safe from any men wanting to try anything with her. She recognized his grace!
What a wonderful picture of Jesus! How many times did He invite others to follow Him so he could teach them and keep them safe? In Matthew 23:37 Jesus tells the Israelites that they who killed prophets and stoned those sent to them, how often had he wanted to gather them like chicks under a wing but they would not listen.
Ruth had come to a place foreign to her after she and Naomi’s husbands died and all she wanted was to take care of her. Boaz took notice and rewarded her for her goodness by providing a place for her to work and for protection. Ruth was faithful, returned to Boaz’s field and he said to her that surely the Lord would repay her and reward her as she sought refuge under His wings.
Boaz ends up marrying Ruth and moving her and Naomi in with him and they have a son named Obed. He was the father of Jesse who was the father of David. Who came from the line of David?
Jesus.
Now I can tell you the rest of the story. Ruth was a Moabite!
Jesus saves! Amen? Amen!
