What a gorgeous, beautiful Sunday it is!
We made a second visit to First Baptist Church in Orange today but went to second service. The brochure said both services are identical, choose the one that fits you best!
I like it but is it where we want to be? I’m not sure yet. Today was a celebrate John day-he was the music minister for 25 years. They gave him so many gifts and money and he lead us in praise music and all that was great, but it made the message be cut so short, he will continue it next week.
The message was based on Colossians 1:9-14 but he only covered verse 9.
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,”
- What fills your mind is what shapes your life.
Although that says a lot, I was disappointed not to cover the entire message, yet I understand that things happen.
When we came home, I took the aging pups outside and we sat in the beautiful greening yard and I took in God’s beauty, felt the breeze on my face and the sun on my skin. This. This is what I want my mind full of. It’s calming. It’s beautiful. It gives me peace. Why? Because it’s God’s creation and a constant reminder that He is over everything. Everything!
Of course, the verse really means filling your head with the wisdom God’s word brings is what shapes your life if you let it.if you fight it, filling your head with needs, wants, and chasing that next big thing, you my friend will not ever find happiness or wholeness. You will not feel the peace that knowing Jesus brings.
So lets fill our minds with things that calm, not the daily news. What’s going on in the world is important to an extent, but we cannot let it shape our lives. I want peace, hope, and love. In Jesus is where we find that. 🙏🤗
Thanks for being here. If this resonated with you, drop me a note or a comment, I’d love to chat.
One more note: Whether this is the church or the next one we visit is, we can always find the message and share it with the world!
Another Lil Jesus
A confession: When we came home three weeks ago after visiting the first church, there was a goody basket on the front porch. It was a welcome gift with snacks and a card game to inspire a family game night and also tucked in there was another Lil Jesus. That is the third encounter with these mini-dieties and I’m loving it! This one resides dead center atop our TV. Talk about a constant reminder!!
