Word of the Day 9/17/18 Gloss

Today’s word of the day comes from D Kelly over at Thriving not Surviving and the word is Gloss.

As a noun the word can mean shine or luster on a smooth surface or a superficially attractive appearance or impression.

As a verb it can mean to apply a cosmetic gloss to or to try to conceal or disguise by treating it briefly or representing it misleadingly.

Her lips are shiny with color and gloss,

Yet they don’t lie,

They may disguise the truth like a rock under moss

Concealing her tragic home life
