Getting it Done

Good afternoon everyone!

We showed up in Jupiter, Florida yesterday in late afternoon, so we decided to wait until today to take me to the VA/ER to see about my back. I had called ahead while in St Augustine and was informed that this was the quickest way to get registered at a new VA and get seen immediately.

As soon as I was called back, they assessed my situation, gave me a shot for pain and gave me a prescription for steroids to help with inflammation. The Dr said I need an MRI so they can see how many nerves are pinched and where, and if my hip was out of alignment. All of that took about two and a half hours and we were back in time for lunch.

The Dr said to keep up my stretches and move around as much as possible until I get my MRI, but walking is extremely painful and slow. I’m pretty sure my hip is out. David has little patience for me and would rather I stay laying down and out of the way. He is a ‘rub-some-dirt-on-it’ kind of guy and has little patience for illness or injuries. He’s trying though.

I called to try to schedule my MRI and they said they are looking at the report from the Dr, call back tomorrow. I need it done asap, so you bet I’ll be up bright and early to get that MRI scheduled. Barb and I (my half sister) are dying to meet, so she will check on me tomorrow and see if we can manage going to dinner. I can’t wait to feel better and start getting to know her and seeing the sights around Jupiter!

I can tell you even if I don’t yet have pictures, that our site is very clean and pretty. We are kind of close together in this park and parking the RV was a bit of a nightmare yesterday, but we are set now. I’m also dying to see the beach, but all in good time. I have to be patient and get better, plus we have to get the Jeep fixed if we are going to be exploring. It’s tough to be a patient patient, lol. 😂

I’ll keep you posted. Take care everyone!

    1. Thank you, Anne, me too. I can’t get the MRI until the 14th, so unless something gets better on it’s own, I have two more weeks of hobbling around. I will keep up my stretches though!

      1. Thanks again, Anne! I wish it was sooner, but at least it’s this month, while we are near the VA hospital I went to. I’m learning to tell all of the VA centers that we are traveling vets, so we can get the service we need where we are at the time!
