Its time again to tackle Linda’s weekly prompt.

I’d been looking forward live music and fun all day yesterday. I’d already had a failed attempt at pool time -for one, the heavy clouds obscured the sun and kept the temperature too cool for me to get in the water. I needed more light to tan my skin and that wasn’t happening either.
Later I had a moment where I got a bit miffed at my husband for not wanting to take me to Walmart instead of Publix. He was going on about not wanting to go “into town” (10 minutes up one road) because traffic coming home would be a nightmare. Really?? When did he get so old? It’s literally ten minutes from our driveway to Walmart and when we lived in DFW, that’s when you’d have a legitimate gripe about traffic. This is one road!! The problem is he assumes too much. He’s automatically negative, when the actual result is usually positive. I hate that he keeps a dark cloud over his head instead of trying to think positive. (PS: he’s a year younger than me!) That’s not old!
Anyway, the good news was we got to eat out, trying Guacamole’s again and had a much better experience. I had delicious barbacoa quesadillas, and he had a relleno and an enchilada. We took advantage of happy hour and each had a (weak) margarita, but at least it wasn’t sour. It tasted like key lime pie.
Finally the time came to see The Leafy Greens Band. A husband and wife team, they are so good they have developed a following and they’ve only been married and performing for two years. It was unbelievable how good their sound was, being so simplistic. As you can see in the above photo, it’s Ella on vocals and tambourine, Billy on lead guitar (he could really bend those strings), and the guy playing the Cajon-a box shaped drum which originated in Peru.
After looking it up, I learned that it has internal snares and is played by slapping the plywood from the front or sides, or playing with brushes, mallets, or sticks. Ella has a strong and beautiful voice and they had quite the range of knowledge musically. They had an original but covered bands from Fleetwood Mac to Toby Keith and knew music from various decades despite being so young.
It was the bright spot in my day, and I even got up and moved a bit on the dance floor. Nothing rigorous mind you, simply swaying to the music was enough. I didn’t want to be super sore today. But check this out: for the first time since visiting Anne in North Carolina, I walked over 5, 000 steps yesterday! Improving daily I’d say.
Sunday is our big Super Bowl pot luck and game watching event. We will bring a meat and cheese tray and several others will bring sides and snacks.
So happy to be out and about with the living!
