Welcome everyone and thanks for visiting to read the Sunday Message, my account of what the sermon meant to me as we wrap up the second half of Building a Firm Foundation.
It was a little bit different today as we had not only plans but errands to run, so to fit church service in, I watched online from home. It is so much better to attend in person, but sometimes it isn’t possible…like when we are on the road, which we will be come Thursday.
That being said, I’ll be quick and just make a couple of points that to me are pretty simple, yet sometimes difficult to do.
- Everyone has Storms
Do you build your house on a rock or in the sand?
You better have said rock, or you’ll be sinking soon.
What I mean is, if you don’t build a firm-in-your-faith-foundation, you wont know how to deal with the storm when it comes. And we all know its coming. How will you react if you get a terrible diagnosis? Lose your job? Have an accident, or whatever the trial is you’re bound to go through at some point?
Will you crumble, cry, scream in anger, ask why God why?
Not if your foundation is firm. Not if your faith in God is so strong 💪 and so deep that you know He will respond when you ask Him. You will be more likely to say, “God, I can’t wait to see what you are going to do!”
Your faith must be steadfast before you experience growth, so when the trials of life comes, and you’re tested, you will know how to handle it.
2. Everyone Builds.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -Matthew 6:21
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is he who takes refuge in Him. -Psalms 34-8
Pastor Kyle said he discovered a new word; ginosko-knowledge gained through first-hand experience and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with the fullness of God.
This is what it is like to see what God does during the trial that you may go through. You become excited when you see His love, compassion, and goodness He shows when you see the proof right before you. When you trust in Him that he will handle the trials you go through, you wont then fall apart or become stressed out when whatever storm it is, hits.
It would be a challenge to ask God to test your faith but if it’s strengthened, it will totally change our perspective of how we respond when the storm comes.
In other words, you might think I was crazy if I asked God to test my faith in some way just so I can see how He works his miracles in my life. Yet we have to be so strong in our faith that we can confidently say, “Bring it!” Test my faith Lord, so I can show You that I believe you have my back.
I like the quote he ended with by a man named John Maisel.
”To know Christ in the sense that Paul is describing it means to be affected by the love at the core of who we are. We give in to it, we respond to it, we feel it thrilling our hearts, we trust it, we rest in it.”
Thank you for joining me, I hope I’ve done a good job explaining the message as I understand it.
Please be safe this holiday weekend, and remember to pray for those families affected by the loss of their loved ones who served in protecting our country. 🙏
Happy Memorial Day weekend! ✝️🇱🇷
