Chicago! The super tall buildings, Lake Michigan, and The Bean!
I was so excited that Dave agreed to take me over for a visit, yet nervous at the same time due to rumors about high crime.
Before we went, I researched the safe way to visit. Common sense, stay where the tourists go, don’t venture of into shady looking neighborhoods, etc.
We needed not to worry, as we soon found out. Chicago is so huge a city, it would take weeks to see everything. Time we don’t have. So, we started at Navy Pier and only taxied out as far as to the Bean statue and then walked the 1.5 miles back. That little ride cost $18 with tax. Just to park at Navy Pier for two hours was $37.
Afterward, we ate lunch at Margaritaville right their on Navy Pier, I rode the giant Ferris wheel, and then we fought the bumper to bumper traffic back to the park at Big Rock where we are staying. Lunch was about $70 with tip. While on the Ferris wheel, David bought me a T-shirt—$23. And I bough myself a souvenir magnet-$7.
I took so many pictures of the buildings, the water, the Bean, the beautiful flowers -speaking of those, we didn’t think to go to Lincoln Park, but we drove right past it on the way out. Interestingly enough, a song by LinkinPark was playing just as we were driving by!
The only other thing we wanted to do was something David did as a child when visiting these same cousins, ride to the top of what used to be the Sears Tower. That would have cost us $88 together, so we settled for a picture of the super high skyscraper.
So, I have tried to condense the pics into a decent gallery for you who don’t have Facebook to see. I hope you enjoy it. I couldn’t go to Margaritaville without enjoying one so ill show my delicious pomegranate and blueberry flavored margarita too. I had the Carribean egg rolls and my were they spicy. Dave had the club sandwich and I ate the other half for dinner last night. 😜

I was inside a different artwork that sang, so I turned to the video to record it but I’m not sure it will play here.
Nooo.
I believe the John Hancock building is the second tallest in Chicago. We went to one building Anos or something and I asked if we could ride to the top and were told no because you had to be an employee or a guest staying there.
I loved the architecture of some of the buildings, and I wish we’d have had time for some of the museums. Maybe we will get back some day and do it again but with more time and a better plan.

I am so behind on everything from Inktober to commenting on blogs to writing blogs that it will take some time to catch up.
Tomorrow we embark on the long journey home for a while. Yes, with our plans to go east ruined, its like Mother Nature is sending us home to take care of business. The bus has maintenance needs, we do to, and we also have decided to try and find a place -just to get rid of the storage and that bill- but we will keep traveling.
Still it will be nice to have a place of our own as a home base. If Florida survives this current hurricane and we can get there come December, we still plan to go. I mean, its paid for, so why wouldn’t we. But its a wait and see.
Weve had such a great time with Holly and her family and learning a bit about Illinois, it will be great to come back in the future. I’ve had to resign myself to the fact that I couldn’t get the boy out of Texas, so I guess that’s where we will be looking for our forever home.
I wonder where we will land? Stay tuned!
