An Evening With Julie

Oh what fun we had at my long-time friend Julie’s house last night. We, along with two other couples, were invited over for her Spring Fling Shrimp Boil.

The other couples, Sandy and Chuck & Dee and Larry we had previously met at other parties. They are all charming and we all had so much to talk about!

Julie and Wes love entertaining and cooking for friends, so we chatted until the food was ready. Here are some pics of us horsing around.

Soon enough, we were still trying to talk while eating shrimp, corn, sausage, potatoes (not for me), and cheddar biscuits (Like Red Lobster’s) and drinking tons of water…thats a hot dish!!

Much later, with news that Chuck and Sandy needed to leave soon, I asked him if he was ready for dessert. He said he had been since he walked in the gate! 🤣

We had delicious peach pie a-la-mode and retired to the kitchen (post clean up) for a round of two of the game Chickenfoot. Its played with dominoes. Wes wouldn’t play, so we figured on five and managed a round or two before Dee said they needed to get on the road. They live an hour away in Granbury.

Meanwhile, I was taking pics like a lunatic all over Julie’s house to show my youngest son, Chris. He hasn’t seen all the upgrades. There’s a gallery with a side note: Julie is a great lover of a good find at estate sales. She has a collection of Tiffany styled lamps, but one is a real Tiffany lamp she got at a steal. Can you tell the real one?

I guess you don’t have to guess, I missed taking pictures of several other lamps around the house. The Tiffany featuring the dragonflies is the real deal.

She and Wes have done so much work preserving her house (which the city tried to make her sell) including leveling and improvements in the rest of the house.

Both front and back yards are gorgeous with plants and flowers everywhere. You can see the hard work and dedication everywhere. She is very proud and the house is very old, but its hers. New houses in the area are probably jealous.

I brought Wes a gift of special sauce with his name on it, and a recipe for chicken dip that uses the sauce in it. We brought Julie a charcuterie tray that never got touched, lol. She sent leftovers so my brother could have a taste.

She is such a good friend and we have been through so much together, but she is this kind of friend to so many! Everyone loves her and I’m very concerned about her and her health. She has lost a ton of weight using that diabetic medication, but she is diabetic also. She has early-stage Parkinson’s controlled by medication.

There are other things, but I’m waiting for news after this next appointment for the rest of the story. Say a prayer with me that its all good news. 🙏🙏

    1. It was so nice. The weather men have been threatening us with bad weather and sweltering temps, but it turned out perfect. Lovely, breezy, cool.
