Back in God’s Country

It’s so great to be back in Echo Basin, near Mancos, Colorado.

The minute we got to Durango, I started to recognize the streets and had this deja vu feeling like we were just here, when in reality, its been more like nine months!

I can see Mt Hesperus from here.

The ride from Durango to EB is about 30min, but felt like it took much longer. I was so ready to be there! I knew exactly where our turn was to the long and winding road that takes us up the mountain to our resort.

I had to take a picture to mark the event.

This is the way to Echo Basin.

Right before that picture I took one of the valley in Mancos, but a picture doesn’t do it justice. Its so beautiful here, the mountains and their many colors, the green valleys, the rocks, the trees. Here, you just notice nature more. We saw a deer crossing the road as we crept along the winding road but there wasn’t time to snap a photo. Don’t worry, there will be more.

When we got to the office, Gayle checked us in and came around the counter to give me a hug. She plays mahjong with all of us ladies. When she’s not working, that is.

Other Mahjong pals-Sherry and Chuck are our new next door neighbors. We are facing the woods this time, and I can’t wait to set up some things and spend time outside, maybe even hanging out with them.

Last night we went to the bar and grill here at the resort and had the Thursday special, tacos and margaritas. We were in good company with Sherry and Chuck, and met Kim, Rick, and her mother-Carol. There was one more couple at the table, but I’ve already forgotten their names. And no, I didn’t take a picture. Maybe next time.

Rick and Kim kept up a witty banter back and forth with her mother chiming in, which kept us laughing the whole time. It was good catching up with Sherry and Chuck as well. I bowed out of game night-I was tired and so was David. We came back home and relaxed with our dogs. They were happy at last. They don’t cotton to traveling much.

My prayers worked, as you see we didn’t have any more incidents. Dave is taking a day or two off of repair work, and then he has some work to do on the Jeep. Plus, he will have to replace the bushings with real ones at some point. But right now, after a trip to Cortez, doing the laundry, and cleaning all the mess from the silverware drawers that got dirty doing the countertops, we are happy to sit and change ll for a while! 😘

That last line is supposed to read, we are happy to sit and chill a while.( Stupid editor wouldn’t let me fix it!)
