The Sunday Message

Proverbs 22: 1-16 Outside In

Let’s start by praying for those who have been killed in Kerr County, and for those still missing and all of their families.

Pastor John related a story about a man in prison to whom he asked, “How have you been making it as long as you have in such a dangerous place?” The man told him that he lived by his code.

See, as long as he did that, he was safe.

What is your code and are you living according to it? Or, are you a hypocrite.

The first of the 16 Proverbs talks about how Gd made the rich and the poor, and how a good reputation is more desirable than riches.

It is prudent to see the danger and take refuge not ignore it and pay the price.

Proverb 22:4 is one of the most important of all the Proverbs.

Humility is the fear of God; its wages are riches, honor, and life. Be humble and fear God.

Basically, if you have a healthy reverence for God, then you have no other fears and nothing to worry about.

Proverb 22:6 is probably the best known Proverb; train a child in the way he should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Coparent your child with God. Enhance the child’s personality and nurture his gift.

Blessed are those that feed the poor. Do not oppress the poor or take advantage of them, otherwise prepare to suffer calamity.

I. Our Behavior should be Consistant with our Identity. (2-9, 15-16)

II. Our Speech should be Consistant with our Identity.

Pastor John goes a bit deeper not the meanings of Proverbs, sometimes quoting other scriptures.

I have been reading a lot today, following many other bloggers and Substack creators who write Christian content. I’m hurting today, so trying to find meaning through scriptures. This next verse was my favorite

Sorry, it’s cut off. Here’s what it says:

Therfore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

I hope that helps others that deal with chronic pain.

Every day I do two things without fail. I spend time in the Word, and I do my stretches, otherwise, I’d be in much worse shape.

Thank you all for being here t read my interpretation of the message. 🙏
