Inktober ‘25 – Button & Firefly

I’m playing catchup today, so I’ve done two prompts.

Button

I remember when I used to make jewelry and I learned how to make bracelets out of buttons. I still have a tin can and maybe even a jar of buttons in our storage unit! Also, didn’t everyone’s grandmother have an old jar of buttons on a shelf somewhere, or in her sewing box? Mine did!

Firefly

It is so difficult to draw something that is supposed to be glowing and have it come out right on paper. I’m anxious to see what some others on the official Inktober page on Substack look like. Maybe I can learn something.

  1. My grandma absolutely had a jar of buttons and for some reason it’s something I think of often! 😂 At Walmart they actually sell jars of buttons and urge to buy one is so strong every time I’m in the crafting section but I don’t often need buttons so what would I do with them realistically other than empty the jar and put them all back in sometimes? Maybe it would be good for my anxiety to do that. 😂

    1. Maybe you could look on Pinterest and find some ideas. It’s like a to do list for me, lol!

      1. If you could see all the pins I have saved! 😂 I’m a manager at my job and I’m already thinking of Thanksgiving crafts to do for my associates and have so many ideas saved on Pinterest like they’re going to be on Thanksgiving crafts overload 😂

      1. I’m sure I haven’t sewn on a button in the last 11 years. Either I don’t have many buttons on my clothes, or they are sturdier than they used to be.

      2. I agree! I think it’s less buttons on clothes.
If you ever look at Pinterest, they have lots of projects for buttons! 😀

  4. I love button jewellery and have bought myself a few button necklaces over the years from different stallholders and countries. I find drawing or painting to make it look glowing super hard. My only suggestion would be to leave a bit of white paper space above the top of the yellow. 🙂
