Today’s message comes from John 1: 1-5 –

1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Because there are not three Gods. There is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All. One. God.

2) He was with God in the beginning. (meaning Jesus) God delivered Him to us in the form of a human baby.

3) Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

So after Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, he was the teacher to the disciples, died for our sins and was buried, then rose three days later. He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

1. Jesus is Diety & “Eventual” Creator (1:1-3)

Jesus is the light of the world. If you believe and carry his spirit within you, then let your light shine! Share the good news about Jesus. He gave you LIFE. Not only that, if you believe, than you have eternal life!

Its not totally free of course. You have to confess with your mouth that you believe that Jesus died for our sins. You should build a close relationship with God by being in His Word daily. And you have to obey Him. Yet he knows we all slip. We are not perfect, only He is. So it’s by His grace that we are given the gift of eternal life.

4) In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

5) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

2. Jesus Christ is the source of Life and Light. (1: 4-5)

Its funny that John 1 starts the way it does, confirming how it was in the beginning just like Genesis. It’s also funny that when I read through the New Testament, I started with John. Why I didn’t start with Matthew, I have no idea, but I just now realized it and here I am almost halfway through 1 Kings in the Old Testament!

Oh well, at least I’m in the Word daily, that’s what matters, right?!
