Wednesday Hodgepodge

Wednesday means Hodgepodge time – thanks as always to Joyce for providing the questions.  We join in HERE.

1. I live in the south so we’re pretty much only talking about the weather right now. Give us a weather report from where you live. Does the kind of weather you’re having today affect your mood in some way?

I live in Texas, right now Vidor-and we got the harsh cold but we’re spared the ice and/snow. It makes it painful for me with all my health issues, but if I can stay warm, I’m ok.

2. Avocados, kale, cauliflower and cottage cheese have all had their time to shine. 2026 brings us the year of the cabbage. Is this a vegetable you like? If so, what are some of your favourite dishes that call for cabbage?

I like cabbage, but I don’t eat it as much as I should. Maybe at New Year dinner, or in a coke slaw, but we never think about having it as a side on a regular basis. A shame really because it’s so good for you.

3. Was a Cabbage Patch Doll a part of your childhood? Or maybe your children’s childhood? What’s a toy trend from your childhood you remember wanting for your own?

They were popular when my kids were young but I had boys, so no. They had dolls like Stretch Armstrong and Teddy Ruxpin. Me? I had a Chrissie doll with the hair you pull out of her head to make it longer. I also had Barbies and a Mrs Peep baby doll.

4. Something you’ve been doing a lot lately?

Exercise. Movement, but sitting too. My back issues are bad, I can’t stand for long periods but I know I have to move a lot or I will be in worse shape. So, I shoot for 7500 steps a day, but I don’t always get there. One thing I don’t neglect is the stretching. It’s the most important!

5. Somehow it’s the last week of January…sum up your month in just three sentences.

Change.

Cold.

Productive.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I’ve also ben praying a lot. For myself, for David to make the decision God wants him to make for our immediate future, for friends in need. 🙏

One more…I am obsessed with The Chosen and the star that played Jesus. Once the series ended, I started watching Jonathan and Jesus. You should too! It’s amazing.

I hope I did this blog hop correctly, y’all. It’s my first time, be gentle!

  2. Great answers!

I love “The Chosen!” Is another season coming out, do you know?

    1. I just Googled it and the answer is yes! Season 6 is confirmed but it will focus on His crucifixion, which I was hoping would be glossed over. Sorry, but I saw the worst depiction ever with Mel Gibson’s movie. That was enough for me, I can’t watch another. It also says that a Season 7 is also in the works!

      1. I’m so glad it’s continuing. I agree with you about Mel Gibson’s movie. So stressful and difficult to think what Jesus went through.

  4. Ugh. Yes, I can relate to the cold. The polar vortex has had us in its grip for weeks now with no sign of relief. I am missing my walks.

And I love The Chosen. I am about half way through Season 3 right now.

    1. That’s great that you like The Chosen too. I think it’s a “must watch” for the world!! Watch Jonathan and Jesus after. Oh the people he has influenced around the world just by playing Jesus. It’s a true inspiration. 😀
I’m sorry you have Tobe freezing too! It’s so painful.

  5. I wanted a Crissy doll when I was a kid, but I never did get one. I also try to get in plenty of steps every day, but I’ve really been falling short of my goal lately, and the cold and snow doesn’t help! You are right that NOT moving just makes it worse. Sorry you’ve been having back problems – I hope you’re feeling better!

Hope you’re having a great week and seeing answers to your prayers!

  6. Welcome to the Hodgepodge! Thanks for joining in this week. I post questions every Sunday and the link goes up on Wednesdays. Back issues are so miserable and difficult to treat. I haven’t heard of Jonathan and Jesus so will look for that. Have a great day!
