When we moved in last Wednesday, I met the neighbor to the right of us and his name is Jim Taylor, he has an acre was th a trailer on it and says he’s been here 50 years! He offered to give me his number in case I have a problem while Dave is at work. Very nice, right?
I gave him some space, waved from the back yard, but otherwise, he wandered over with his dogs another morning but we just talked briefly. So this morning, I wrote my number down and took it over. I asked about the walking trail he says us behind his house and he said it was still too wet, but if I was ever interested, there’s a very nice park just across the tracks.
Speaking if the tracks, I’ll show you how close we are.

look in the space between his car and the bushes and you’ll see the tracks.
Im standing in our back yard.

Our little patio. My chair was out by the dogs pen at the time.
After returning to my place, I was settling in and the dogs had just assumed their positions when my doorbell rung. I’m guessing he tried to call me first and I didn’t recognize the number. He wanted to take me to the park and show me how nice it was.
He didn’t have to twist my arm! I’ve been stuck in the house all week. I grabbed my purse and made sure I had a key 🔑 so I could lock up and away we went. He told me while walking that he had lost his wife and lost interest in some things, but keeps up his exercise thanks to his cute little dogs.
They are the reason we met in the first place. He has a chaweeny and another mixed breed of some sort. Both adorable. We didn’t take them, we were alone and saw only two runners on the trail. Once around the track is a mile, so I got my exercise in early! Bonus!
He asked if I minded running to HEB or did I want him to drop me back by the house. Of course I’m not going to make him do that, so we went to the store which is just a hop from the park. I was able to grab a few more things I needed and I bought provolone and a cantaloupe for Dave. It was so very nice of him and I have no qualms about going anywhere with him.
I think I’m a pretty good judge of character and besides that, he is about 86 years old. I’m sure he also enjoys some company once in a while. He showed me where the VFW hall is and said there a dance there every Thursday. I’d love to go just to go somewhere, but we will see how Dave responds when I tell him. He’s shy you know. 😉

Lastly, see the house tucked back a ways behind Jims? I believe that is where cockadoodledo-ach! lives. I deal with the trains better than that dern rooster!
Is it not kinda strange that they built a duplex here? It works for me because besides the trains and the roster, its kinda nice and quiet, like being in the country.
