It’s Walk for PKD Time, That’s What!
Yes my fine peeps, it’s getting to e that time of year again, time to gear up and start fundraising for the Walk for PKD which will be Saturday, Oct 19, 2019 in Southlake Town Square. Registration opens at 8am.
Unfortunately, I may not get to walk this year depending on the outcome of my surgery and all of my other medical issues going on right now, but if I can, I plan to be there!
If you don’t live in Texas, there are other walks all over the US. Go to walkforpdk.org and locate your state to find your walk details. There you can also donate. 100% of each donation funds life-saving research.
Even if you and/or I cannot get out and physically walk, we can donate to the cause. This cause is close to my heart because it is what my mom had, complications of the disease finally caused her death five years ago. In addition to that, I have the disease myself. So I want to see a cure in my lifetime! I really don’t want to have to have a kidney transplant or go on dialysis. I’m sure the other hundreds of thousands of people with this disease feel the same way!
If you don’t know PKD (polycystic kidney disease) find out more at the PKD Foundation.
To walk, or to donate to a walker or team, please sign up today at walkforpkd.org/northtexas.
The goal this year is $50,000 and so far we’ve raised $15,013.92- C’mon, we can do better! If you know someone suffering from PKD, you know what they are going through!
My mom had to go to dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours at a time. It was hard on her to begin with because they discovered it when she was in her 60’s, but then she had a stroke. It was twice as hard after that, watching her struggle and my dad too. It’s a lot to go through to care for someone with those debilitating issues. Plus, she was confined to a chair most of the time or a wheelchair, and no longer had the use of her left arm. She had a hard way to go, but if we can raise enough money to find a cure, others won’t have to suffer like that.
Anything you can afford will help the effort AND if you donate $100 or more, you will get a T-shirt! (at a local walk)
IF you have the means, sign up to be a sponser. To find out how go to-www.pkdfoundation.salsalabs.org
You can also choose to FUND YOUR WAY by doing any one of several types of fundraisers…DIY-organize your own fundraiser by raising money selling your goods or services. (My way might be to sell some of my home made crafts and or jewelry-stay tuned!)
