So, We Did a Thing!

Happy Sunday y’all and check out what we did for the very first time today!

Yep! We made sausage-from scratch to vacuum sealed!

My hubby, David, decided he wanted to learn how to make our own sausage, so he bought a machine that grinds the meat, and stuffs the sausage into casings. It’s a very labor intensive process, but so much fun too!

Yesterday, he bought us a deep freezer and a vacuum food saver sealer, now the sausage looks professional and we have a place to store our extra meat. The freezer in the house is part of our side-by-side refrigerator and we keep way too much meat for it all to fit. I got beaned in the head a couple of weeks ago by a pack of frozen bacon when it slid out while I was looking for something to pull out for dinner! Maybe that won’t happen now. 😁

Here we are from start to finish:

David cutting the meat to begin the grinding process
Mixing the meat with the spices, veggies, and herbs
Attaching the sausage casings for stuffing
Making sausage!
Me helping since it’s a two-man job!

  1. Once you get it down pat I would love to place an order? Of course I do not want mine spicy! So did you add sausage in the spaghetti? I think that David should open his own restaurant and be the head chef! What gave him the idea to do it? I cannot believe that Ruby is already 3 years old! You’ll have an awesome Thanksgiving, and be sure to tell the family I said hello and happy Thanksgiving to them as well! Off the subject, but I have gotten about 4 likes from my blog for people I don’t know, woo hoo!!

    1. Woo hoo! I think it’s because you shared it on Facebook! 😘
Thank you so much 😊 We will have about 15 people as far as I know. We’ve been working all day to clean, organize, donate, sell, to get the house ready for company.
I think Dave wants to have a side gig that may turn into his own business-shhhh. Lol. We will keep you posted as things progress, and if we make any that’s not spicy, I will give you some!
Ruby is so pretty and Ryan’s son is already 10!! We didn’t see him yet, but probably will sometime over the holiday. My own granddaughter is 4 now! She loved all her birthday stuff I got her. ❤️
I’m just glad we have the pot luck kind of thanksgiving so we don’t have to cook everything, but we still do a lot! What’s on your menu?

      1. You having a garage sale? The potluck sound like a good idea. You are going to have a bunch of people over, sounds fun! Our menu is pretty traditional as dad is making ham, cornbread casserole Not a very diabetic friendly food but I will not complain and have a bite. Dad’s 1st time to make it. Green Bean casserole, dad’s 1st attempt to make that as well! That is all that I know of on our end. I am going tomorrow to get my haircut with Stacey! Haven’t had my hair cut since Feb. I plan to have Christine take a picture of me with it tomorrow while laughed at the shop! I am wanting something different, thinking about side bangs, a tapered look from the chin down, and then undercut in the back! I may change my mind when I get there who knows? I do not have a picture of it in my mind, just a thought! I am just ready for something different!

      2. Oh, that will be so cute! Yes, send me a pic! Nah, we are just cleaning up and making some room for the new freezer and general cleaning and organizing since so many folks are coming over.
