A Reflective Poem

What if they were hummingbirds,

Our loved ones gone too soon.

Flitting between the feeders,

Bringing joy in the afternoon.

What if they were hummingbirds,

Coming to visit us when,

They bring a smile onto my face

And then they’re gone again.

I’ve been having so much fun watching and taking photos of the hummingbirds playing around our yard. We put up a third feeder-thanks to neighbor Jim- and they bring me such joy!

This morning, one came up to the porch where I was standing and watching and hovered there! That’s what inspired the poem. Like dragonflies. I started wondering if it was a loved one who’s passed coming to visit me. He flitted back and forth, checking me out from two different angles before flying off, chattering away.

I need a real camera because with my phone I can’t get good enough close-ups, and I’m intrigued about what types are visiting. Like I’ve said before, I looked it up and we don’t have any native to this area with white throats and these are definitely while throated don’t you think?

They are very active and so playful right now! They go up in the trees and back down again, then soar between the feeders, stop to get drinks and shove each other out of the way. It’s funny and so entertaining to watch! To bad I can’t sit and do that all day! I feel sorry for Dave because he can’t hear their chittering. I recognize it now and always know they are around. They are so amazing, tiny creatures, thank God he made them for us to enjoy!

One last thing. I saw this come up in my memories and saved each picture to show you all three sons.

I love them all even though they all have such different personalities and quirks, that’s what makes them unique. Josh and Shari have been together now six years-that blows my mind.

Chris has a new girl-friend that he swears is “just a friend”. Stacey.

Sean is still alone and struggling to find a spot to start over. Must be tough at 44 to be in that place. I pray for them all daily. I try to let go and let God as much as possible.

I’ve taken dozens of photos and videos of the hummingbirds that I wish I could share but I’m sure many of you have seen them in action. There’s to hoping they brighten your day!
