SoCS-An Acronym in Itself

Oh my! It’s Saturday again already? Time flies when you’re having fun.

But honestly, I’m still reeling from the sticker shock of yesterday’s lunch bill.

Lunch for two! Ridiculous after tip and service fee!

Ok, we knew going to Trout Street would be spendy-it always has been, however, now they are trying to trip us up and think we won’t notice them adding on a service fee for,

I can only guess, using a credit card!!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “acronym’.”Choose an acronym and use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

These extra fees need to stop ASAP!
Is it not bad enough they charge so much for food, they have to tag on this extra service fee on top of the tip??

Now that that’s off my chest, let’s move on.

Did you not notice that SoCS is in itself an acronym? Stream of Consciousness Saturday is what it stands for and it’s a weekly challenge provided by Linda G Hill, a now famous author as well as fellow blogger. Each week she challenges us with a promo word or words to exercise the old noodle.

Back to yesterday’s lunch for a sec. Although expensive, it was delicious. I even tried a new to me beverage called the Port A Bikini. Vodka, cranberry and some other juice-I forget- topped off with a little ginger beer. Not a fan, as I discovered, but I finished it, cause I’m a trooper. 😁

Our view
My drink is not the sign pictured. Coconut shrimp and fries.

Dave had fish tacos and fries with tea. Does all of that sound like it’s worth almost $75?? Yeah, me neither. I think the cost is more about the view and ambiance personally.

Most of my career in the medical field was in the lab, and I grew very used to the acronym STAT. All of the doctors wanted their tests done STAT or ASAP, as if we can process standard testing any faster than it actually takes. We always did our best to appease them though.

It was the same in the military, but I learned a new one in the Army. FUBAR. (F*cked up beyond recognition) This term was used a lot, although usually with tongue in cheek.

Most of the tests we ran were also acronyms, like CBC -complete blood count, RBC -red blood count, and UA- urine analysis. There were so many more, but like a menu, you memorize them all.

  1. I know what you mean about the price of going to eat these days. Don’t even get me started about the cost of groceries.

  3. Businesses here are not allowed to pass the credit card charge on to you. However, they are allowed to give a discount for cash. It works out the same. Some gas stations post a cash and a credit price – as if anyone carries enough cash to fill their tank.
