Our Amazing Jetties

Yesterday, after my morning walk, breakfast, and usual routine, we went to run some errands, but before that….

We visited our jetty.

Dave wanted to toss a line in while we were here to see how hard it would be to fish off the jetty. Of course, I took the opportunity to snap a few col photos.

Our jetties are an amazing story, which we learned about when we visited the Port Aransas Museum.

As Dave was fishing, I took photos of our jetty. The composition is gigantic granite blocks. The jetty was “hand built” many years ago by strong workers who literally rolled each block off of barges, I think I remember reading. It had to be boats or ships of some kind, because the jetty looks almost a mile long jutting into the ocean and across from our jetty is a matching one. It borders the island of St Jo and looks impossibly long as well.

You can barely see people riding from that jetty as well, but most go to St Jo for the gorgeous stretch of beach.
Here, you can better see the composition and random positioning of the stones.

If you were to fall off the jetty, it would be nearly impossible to climb back on. You see the slimy moss. Never mind the strong currents and waves from passing ships and boats that keep the waters turbulent. Be safely minded at all times!

My attempt at showing how far out the opposing jetty goes into the ocean.

I can’t remember how many years of back-breaking work it took to construct these two jetties.

I always have to take a picture of a gull wherever we go, lol!

After a few tosses, we drove down the beach until we found the beach access road number 2, the second to the last beach entrance before you arrive at Padre Island. At this point, you are on beaches annexed by Corpus Cristi.

Before the long drive, we stopped to walk the beach for a while and I took a picture of this piece of driftwood covered in barnacles.

That’s Dave picking up a smaller piece of driftwood.

I like the look of that driftwood, but it was way to large for us to take. Wouldn’t it make a cool crafting project though??

After we went to Padre Island to get the oil changed in the Jeep at Take 5, we had lunch at My Mimis Kitchen again, but it wasn’t worth talking about, sadly. The first time we went, it was delicious!

Then we went to HEB and bought some groceries and came home. Later in the day, we walked the dogs and passed this cute little Jack rabbit that showed no fear of us or the dogs.

This bunny had the biggest ears compared to his body!

I suppose Jack rabbits are called bunnies too.

On a completely unrelated point, I increased the size of my font because I couldn’t even see what I was writing! Now it’s better, but is it too big for you? I hope it makes for a better reading experience as well as Amy writing experience. I’d appreciate your feedback! ☺️

  1. Interesting about the jetties! I could read this just fine. I like larger prints, as they are easier on the eyes. 🙂

    2. Love your website and the way it’s designed! Did you use a designer? I’d love a new look, but this works for me right now. I take it your book on sale at AMAZON is under your alias?
