Julie and Wes Visit

We Had So Much Fun

I’d been told ahead of time that Julie and Wes were coming for the weekend, so I was waiting with bated breath Friday afternoon with Dave by my side.

That night we played our new Uno game-its one with a twist. Traditional Uno has Wilde cards but this set has a “customizable” wild card that lets you change the cards ♣️inevery one‘s hand! So say you have a hand with ten cards in it and some of them are skips and wilds. If you get the special wild card, you can make everyone give you all their cards, then you shuffle them and redeal. Now, everyone has a new hand. It made the game last a lot longer, so we played until around 10:30!

The next day we took a short run to Delta Downs and made a donation, lol. We were due at a baby shower at two, so we were back in plenty of time. As we got going, the clouds parted and dumped rain on us for the rest of the day, but we didn’t let it stop us. We carried on the shower, then when it was over, we took them to Tia Juanita’s Fish Camp and had a yummy meal and an adult beverage that was too good!! Poor Julie thought she had lost her phone, but later they found it in the truck. It had fallen between the seats.

At home, we didn’t play games but hung out watching TV because everyone was tired. Sunday we were supposed to go to her nephew’s for a crawfish boilbut first we went to church. They were even more welcoming this time and we talked with the pastor and some members after the service. Julie enjoyed it but Wes stayed back. I don’t push anyone to go that doesn’t want to but I do try to encourage.

The crawfish boil was great and we had fun watching the young boys fish in the bayou. I wish we had a place like that! It’s in Bridge City though, and when big storms come, its been known to flood the entire town. Thanks anyway! Vidor is the same. Much of the city is in a flood zone. We are pretty cool here in Orange, but if a hurricane threatens, I’m going home to Kevin’s, lol.

I took so many pictures that I will select a few good ones for the gallery. I hope you enjoy.

PS: The Sunday Message will resume next week. Basically, it was on Acts 2:1-14 if you want to read that yourself. Pastor Kevin summarized by saying that once you have the Holy Spirit inside you, you can’t ignore the call to do what God calls you to do. Well I for one am itching to get involved and told them as much.

Abel did so good fishing -before we left he had caught two or three catfish! His parents wouldn’t let him kep them though, they didn’t feel like fussing with it.

I remember the same thing when our boys were that age and used to go crabbing. They beggeddave to cook them but he always threw them back. The boys would cry and get upset but got over it eventually. Later when they were older, we finally cooked them and they saw what a huge mess it was. It kind of killed the appeal of crabbing for them but they still love to fish.
