Yesterday, we traveled to Poolville, Tx to attend my good friend Michelle’s grandson -Luke, who was turning three. We got him a toy 🦖 which was the big hit of the day.
There was a large crowd, lots of kids, and a food truck, that provided the BBQ for the party. It was intensely hot, and no real escape if you were outside. She has a fabulous, large house with a partially screened in patio, but still it was hot.
I thought surely in the pool it would be better, but although the water was cool, since it comes from a well, there was no way to escape the searing sun. She had a couple of large umbrellas, but at that time of day, the sun was right over the pool. I didn’t have a proper hat, and I tried to hang with everyone for a while, but got very overheated.
About half the crowd was inside and the rest were outside, acting as if the heat was no bother. I just shook my head. I was afraid someone would get a heat stroke for sure. Texas right now is dangerous for anyone with respiratory problems and the weather service has warnings every day to avoid going outside if possible.
Luke had a blast in and out of the pool, and Brandi texted me this morning to report that he woke up asking about me. “You know, the lady in the orange shirt that gave me the dinosaur.” Awww, that warmed my heart. ❤️
We also bought him three books featuring dinosaurs because that’s his favorite thing. Still, with all that family there giving him lots of presents, it was sweet that he remembered we were the ones who gave him that toy. ☺️ That’s what I love, getting people what they want, because giving is better than receiving!
