Our New Spot -Lake Aire

Welcome to South Carolina

Leaving NC this morning.

We arrived in the Charleston, SC area about 4:00, but there was no time to see anything telling just yet. I know there is water water everywhere, and the beach I want to visit is 30 minutes away.

After the comedy of errors that made up this day, I was starving, tired, and shaky. I didn’t want to stray far from the RV, so I started getting things ready to eat, and while Dave was gone to get a pizza, I finished cleaning the mess.

When we started out this morning, I doubled down on securing everything in the RV. Extra tension bars in the cabinets, fridge, and I even put one through all of David’s dresser drawers. Secured the sliding doors, and arranged stuff in the cabinets and super secured the handles shut.

Somehow, leaving the RV park this morning, David went over a rough bump in the transition to the road, and things flew out of the pantry. What I didn’t know was that one of those things was a brand new bottle of Pace salsa. I found out later that it didn’t break, but the top flew off on impact and the contents literally exploded out of the bottle. Yep…walls, floor, covering about four feet of flooring, but miraculously not the carpet.

So I do the quicker form of clean up til we got stopped. Sitting on the floor, I sopped up most of the mess with paper toweling and called it good. I then went to open the fridge to check the tension bars were still in place. They were not! The eggs, which are in a cool little plastic case to save space, hit the floor, opened on impact, and broke all but two eggs. 😤

I kinda lost it after that, but quickly recovered and sopped up THAT mess the same way. We had a runner rug there and most of the mess ended up in one spot on that rug. It’s now outside to be cleaned up later. While Dave was gone, he encountered a big wreck, so I had time to clean a bit better with some lemon Lysol wipes. The floor that got dirty was linoleum, so it wasn’t horrible.

Dave gets back with Dominoes-not a fan- but I was starving so whatever. I thought that hey, I’ll have a diet Dr Pepper with it, it sounded good. Well, something didn’t jive. Ugh! I’m ready for bed. 🙄

I shan’t go yet, it’s way too early, but to say I’m over this day would be accurate! I’m going to pray tomorrow is fabulous and we can go exploring. There are so many things to do here besides what I really want to do, so we will not be bored. Plantations to visit, museums, a golf course close (for Dave) and mansions to tour.

The area is a mixture of woods and palm trees, beautiful oaks dripping with Spanish moss, lakes, swamps, ponds, and somewhere is the ocean. My cup of tea, for sure. From the mountains to the low country in just one day! I’m so ready to explore!
After a good night’s sleep, of course!

  5. I think I would have lost it, too. What a mess! And your poor eggs.

Diet Dr. Pepper is awesome although I haven’t had it in ages.

I hope the rest of your trip looks up from here. 🙂
