What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.
Why are you so short?
Who said we allowed midgets in here?
I get all this and more being 4’ 9”.
Been short all my life, so why do I get so much grief over it. In the words of Lady Gaga “I was born this way” so get over it.
Some jerk in the resort with the social skills of a third grader asked when we started letting midgets in here the other night. His girlfriend said she would have socked him one, but me being non-confrontational, I just walked away.
My friend found out about it and said my retort should have been “ The same time the started letting a*holes in.” That cracked me up, but I never think that fast.
Everyone has told me all of my life, brush it off, ignore it, etc. Yet sometimes, like the other night, it embarrasses me or rubs me the wrong way.
I spent four and a half years in the service, believe me, I heard it all. Yet most of the time, it was in an endearing way. I had nicknames in Korea, like skoche, which means “little bit” or shortshit, and guys were constantly picking me up and carrying me around. Back then, I was young and silly and thought it was cute. Today, I’d be mortified.
It really sucks when you were the shortest in your own family. The reason is my sire was very short. So no, I’m not a midget, dwarf, or little person.
I’m just short.
Deal with it! I certainly do.
