The Sunday Message

I think I’m finally getting it together! I now have a photo for my header and a resource to get images for my Sunday blog posts!

Everyone has a foundation.

With that said, this morning’s message was all about building a firm foundation. Our youth pastor Kyle Davidson gave the message today and it was based on Matthew 7:24-27. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

A foundation-the basic beliefs, values, desires to serve and guide and orient our lives.

This brings up some core questions like:

What’s my purpose?

Whatever you do, do to the glory of God. -Corinthians 10:31

What is true?

Jesus answered, “I am the way and thetruth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6

“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” -John 17:17

Who is God?

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness-

Psalm 86:15

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.-Isaiah 40:28-29

Does God want me?

“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”-Zephaniah 3:17

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.—

John 10:10

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.-Romans 5-8

Where do my hope and security come from?

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him. Psalms 62:5

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.- 1 Peter 1:3-4

All of these questions and answers provide the foundation that we build our faith on. Come back next week for part two of this message:

Everyone has storms.
