The Sunday Message

Good morning and welcome to my interpretation of the Sunday sermon at Bear Creek Bible Church-which by the way, you can live stream every Sunday on their YouTube channel.

Pastor John started the service by cracking a few of those “You know you’re getting older when…” jokes.

You know you’re getting older when…you’re back goes out more than you do, etc.

He did this to point out that when Paul wrote to the church at Colossae, he was trying to encourage them, because we all need that encouragement. We need building up to know that we are doing a great job, that we are standing firm in our faith, and not listening to the false teachings of the world.

I. Our job is to help others mature and grow.
II. Show others what their maturity looks like.
III. Tell others what they’re doing right.

He also prayed for the people there that had not met him yet. Remember, he was writing these letters while languishing in jail. He encouraged them, praising them for the good works they were doing so they would continue in their work. He told them he cared about them and their spiritual growth, and that’s what we are supposed to be doing every day.

Tell others in your life, in your church, that they are cared for. Build them up and give them confidence to stay in their walk. Be encouraged in heart, be united as one. Do not let the false teachings of the world cloud your vision. Your vision of what it takes to get to know Christ better and teach others about the good news.

The good news is that Christ died on the cross to save you from your sin and give you eternal life. If you believe this is true, then proclaim it to the world and you will have eternal life.

Do not be lead down the wrong path of the world view that presents “fine sounding arguments.”

These are the false ideas in the contemporary church.

What we know is the gospel of Jesus Christ and that’s what we are to spread and teach; not to allow the influences of the world instead of being an influence on the world.

I hope and pray you have a blessed Sunday.

Please pray for the little children being carelessly slaughtered and injured as the war in the Middle East keeps raging.
Sorry to bring it up, but before church I watch CBS Sunday Morning like I do when I can, and their was a piece on the poor children of the war being killed, on purpose, which is so heinous I can’t wrap my mind around it.

When John was praying for the concerns of the church this morning, I couldn’t believe he left this out, but it goes against everything we want to believe is going on concerning the war. He prays for the mission trips, the sick and hospitalized, etc. But knowing what evil goes on in the world daily, is just to much to bear. We don’t want to think about it, but they must be prayed for, these tiny, innocent, children. So I’m doing it now.

Dear Lord, please stop the killing of innocent children suffering and dying in the Gaza Strip. I know you have the power, if it means stopping the war then so be it. Send aid if it’s possible, they have no where to get it right now.
I ask all this of You my Lord and Savior. Amen.
