The Sunday Message

I’ve sat with this for a while, but today’s message, delivered by Kyle Davidson-one of the youth pastors- was so short and meaningful I can’t really expound on it much without beating it into the ground.

Hopefully, you all know the story of Mary and Martha from the gospel of Luke. Remember, Martha was more worried about prepping for the huge meal she had to prepare than what should have been important?

Where was Mary? Why wasn’t she helping? Jesus, don’t you care? “Make her help”.

If I were Martha, I wouldn’t be bossing Jesus around!

He gently told her that Mary was in the right, even though what Martha was trying to do was a good thing, it wasn’t the most important thing . Which was, to sit at Jesus feet and listen.

We need to make the better choice.

That was the first lesson. But next is the harder one for me…or maybe they are the same?

We need to surrender our control and our plans to God.

What?! I’m not in control of my own actions and outcomes?

Of course not, but we can get caught up in the busyness of our lives. We have places to go, things to do, everything to see and all of it on some imaginary deadline. Folks, God decides the outcome, not us.

We are all or have been guilty of this. We have work, kids, school, and activities, but if we don’t put God first, none of it will work out right.

I’m guilty. Or I used to be. Several months ago as some of you may know, I pledged to read the NIV version of the Bible day after day, followed by the corresponding Verse by Verse ministry. Every morning before anything else gets done. Period.

Is that enough to save me? No. But I believe in the Good News that Jesus died on the cross to save me and all believers from sin. I believe that he died and on the third day he was resurrected. That is enough to pay for my sin.

As for me, I’m a work in progress. I’m slowly maturing in my faith. And that is what we are all called to do.

One small step at a time.

Well look at that. I let Him take the wheel and he wrote this post for me! I said more than I thought I would, but I could go on.

One more thing though. I am currently studying First Corinthians Ch. 15. He is talking about the truth of the resurrection and how without that belief, what is the point? And it got me thinking and of course, being me, worrying about all those people who don’t believe in it. I started worrying about my family who have passed on. Were they all true Believers just because they attended Catholic masses when they could, or whatever church they belonged to?

I started worrying about my own children, and their future. (they all claim to believe but do they? Do they really?)

And for all unbelievers and their future.

I’m sure that’s the point, but I’m so bothered by it. Again, this would be a great time to simply ask God what to do about it. Should I try harder to make sure my kids souls are saved or should I let Him work on their hearts?

All of us have questions, doubts, and worries. These are the things we need to talk to God about. Now I have real issues to pray for. It makes me tear up, gets me emotional. That’s how I know…its working and He is working on me. 🙏

  2. I think that is something we all worry about! I really his words says that you are not to worry about anything, but give your request to God. Praying about everything that makes you worry. Easier said than done because as a mom you are wanting to fix everyone, but you cannot predict the way their story ends only yours. I struggle with this and I am not a mother. Just continually pray for them. I think about my grandma and I know that she prayed continuingly for her family. She passed away in 2013, and my dad became a believer got baptized in 2023! I know that God heard my grandma’s prayer, but she never up! So never give up on your prayers! Just by being you will show them who you are and hopefully that is what they need. Text them to tell them that you are praying for them! Or maybe letting them know that a good outcome done by God! I do not and never want people to roll their eyes and think that is all I do is Bible bump. When I know that should be the least of my worries. While maturing in my faith it is getting better. I am listening to a book right now called “Faith, Doubt, and God’s Mysterious Timing!” It Is so Good. The Lady Was Telling the Readers That When You let go of something and give it to God you are relinquishing your control to him and in return that is growing your faith! That is something that I had never really thought about before, but that is right! Some things are easier said than done, and he knows that to! I think you are doing absolutely great!

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging words, Stephanie. I really need them and I’m trying to get better about not worrying and giving all that to God. I’m concerned about the escalation in Israel/Iran, but I’m ready if God decided its time to end it all. I’m ready in faith, but not ready in a sense because I was t to live long enough to see my children succeed!
Chris is with Cotton now and doing well in Florida. They evacuated him to Miami, and he told me it was true culture shock due to the high prices there. I said, no kidding because it was like that in Jupiter. Yet I can’t wait to get back to see my sister and my friends I made at West Jupiter RV Resort.
I’m so happy your dad was saved!! Hallelujah and praise the Lord. 🤗❤️

      1. I get where you are coming from. I think that being where you are and having to deal a lot with the nature of things due to the fact that you do not have TV or a lot of other social media outlets right now . Do not worry about the escalation of Iraq/Iran, give it to God. I do not pay attention much to news, it is all bad anyway. Just pray, that is the best thing we can do. Christ will give us the strength we need to carry on (Philippians 4:13, my favorite)!
I am so glad to hear that Chris is doing so well! Hoping that he will meet someone who is a believer, and will help him become interested in going to church with! And the same with the other 2

      2. That would be real nice! And I will, I need to get so much better with my prayers. Sean is having a rough go of it right now, he’s car hunting again and in danger of losing a job. Ugh, seems like they can’t all be doing well at the same time!
