Today’s message comes to us from Colossians 2: 11-15

Inoculated Against Lies

Four Sins

1. You can’t help but sin
2. You still have to pay for your sins
3. You stand condemned
4. You can still be under Satan’s control

These are some of the lies the false teachers were saying to the people of Colossi.

Paul, however, taught Christian Liberty which is directly the opposite of Licensciousness and Legalism.

He taught that we are complete and fulfilled in Christ. No longer do we have to walk around feeling a hole in our souls. We’ve no need to feel empty or like “something is missing.”

When we profess our faith in Christ, we are fulfilled! We are vindicated, and saved from Satan and his power.

We no longer need to sin because now we have a choice. We have liberty in Christ and when our emotions catch up to our knowledge it will feel like standing on a mountain top taking in a glorious view! It will feel like a Dairy Queen blizzard with Reese’s bits inside!

I. You are free from the controlling power of sin, false guilt, and the law. (2: 11-14)

Also, in Romans 6: 1-7 says The controlling power of sin has been broken from the moment you have placed your faith in Christ!

Live up to your new selves and strive to be righteous, resist sin and temptation. Stay away from things like the occult, horoscopes, and Oija Boards. Things that open the door for Satan.

What brought me to tears was hearing pastor John say that all that guilt I harbor or you do, is unessessary because my sins and yours were already forgiven the moment I accepted Jesus into my heart. When you professed your faith in the gospel, you too were forgiven!

So now we all enjoy the liberty of being free from sin, guilt, and the law.

When he says free from the law, he means the old laws that said you must do things like they did back in the days before Jesus came.

II. We are complete in Christ because we have been freed from Satanic Power. (2: 15)

During the service, the microphone started crackling right near the end when John was making that point about being freed from Satanic Power. It was annoying and distracting, so after the final song of praise, John came back up to the podium. He borrowed a different microphone from the musicians and proceeded to apologize for the distraction, pointing that it was Satan not wanting us to hear the message. That he is more subtle here in the Western world, yet he still tries to assert himself this way. By distracting us from hearing the Truth! That brought John himself to tears. Knowing that he, the devil, is not stronger than God and we have the choice to ignore him. We are free from his Satanic Power.

He made it a point also to plead with anyone feeling the need to dabble in the occult, your horoscope, or Oija Boards. Stay away from those sorts of things. He was very emotional at this point.

Profess with your mouth then, if you haven’t done it already, that you believe in Jesus and you will be freed from Satan’s Power forever!
