Knocking them Off -SoCS

Since we’ve been home, one of our goals is to check things off our to-do list, which we have been trying to do quickly.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “starts with ‘kn.’” Find a word that starts with the letters “kn” and use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

One of those things got knocked off the list yesterday. Our eyes exams for contacts. As some of you may know, I have only been wearing one contact for distance, and nothing on the other eye for reading. Its called monovision.

Inside the Walmart eye Dr. office.

Yesterday, I discovered that my eyes are worse and now I need two contacts just to see better in general. Dave has “special” eyes, so his contacts and glasses are always more expensive. He has an astigmatism and the beginning of AMD, that’s why his eyes are “special.”

Another task we have already knocked off is getting the dogs to the groomer. We still have the vet to go. 🙄😬😩

Whiskey after grooming…not happy.

Another was for me, getting a medication from the VA, a challenge, since the prescription was out of refills. I’ve yet to hear back from them, so I have no knowledge of whether she refilled and ordered it, or will require an in-person visit.

Dave has been working on getting the maintenance done on the bus that was necessary but had a slip up ordering parts. He accidentally sent the order to our granddaughter’s mother, since I had previously been shopping for her birthday on Amazon. We quickly found the error, stopped the order of one item, but not the other. Ugh. What a mess. Now she will have to put a return label on it when she gets it (today) and drop it off at a UPS store.

He reordered it to come here, so eventually, he will get it and install it and all will be well. That item was a new tow bar for the Jeep by because the old one was damaged; a fact we were unaware of until we got home! We actually dodged a bullet, since one of the connections had actually broken off!

The last thing on my list to be knocked out is going to get a tooth fixed that has been hurting when hot things sit on it. Hopefully, I can get it at a discount price. (we have no insurance and the VA doesn’t do dental except for those with full coverage). I have yet to make an appointment.

Together, we are getting the list done and simultaneously looking on the internet at lake houses but still don’t really know where we want to live. Our desire to live by the ocean has waned, due to all the hurricanes. I imagine we couldn’t afford the insurance anyway. We will most likely end up in East or Southeast Texas somewhere and that will be our new home base.

We will still travel, of course, so that’s the reason for the rush to get things knocked off the list, we are due in Florida by December 1. I cannot wait to see my sister and our friends at West Jupiter again. 😃

Speaking of friends, we have a hot date for an early dinner with friends Kerry and Michelle today. It will be awesome to see them too! It will be great to forget our to-do list for a while and just relax and have a good time.

Yesterday was a bad day with my back but today is much better. I may have walked too much in my flat boots, or sat too long or something. You never know what will make it hurt worse than normal, so each time that happens, it’s a learning experience.

Now I’m off to check that never-ending chore, the laundry.

  2. Sounds like you’ve been busy (and will be for a bit). Good luck with all the tasks still on the list.

  3. You are making me very tired hearing your list! But that is a smart thing to do. Squeaky wheel gets the grease so keep on them. I am so glad for you both to stay at Kevin place, and getting to see him when he is home. Going to be statin when you do find a place in East Texas because you will not need to come back to Rh for any reason. I guess maybe you visit your brother. But do what you got it do! I love you no matter what there is always face time or phone calls! I will be praying for your back and the dentistry!

    1. Thank you so much, and I’m sure we will be coming back to see Kevin, but don’t worry. Right now Dave is just looking and I’m not sure we will do anything this trip.
Today, he fixed the broken parking light, installed the new radio with blue tooth capability and called me from it to make sure we could call and receive calls through the stereo. It all worked! Yea! This man of man can do anything!
Next weekend, Kevin will help him install the new slide out awning over the bedroom slide out and right now he is looking for a new backup camera because ours is black and white and so old it’s hard to see.
So we are ticking those things offbrhe list and I’m trying to get all my health issues dealt with before we head to Florida.
