A-Z Challenge W

I woke up today and did my daily devotional, and then checked the weather. We are in for storms again today.

All throughout the day we have heard alerts for various thunderstorms, flash flood, and tornado watches.

David kindly mowed Kevin’s yards while he was at work. Later he went to the store and bought some things we needed plus coffee and peanut butter for him. I swear, he eats it a cup at a time! We just bought him a jar last week at $7.00 a jar!!

I’m worried about the weather because I hate to see anyone hurt, but people around here don’t pay attention to the warnings, and many lose their lives to to flooding, lightening, or accidents on the road.

We have warnings for a reason, but so many people ignore or don’t see/hear them in time. They say this generation is so woke, yet you have to wonder why if they all have phones, and those phones send weather alerts every time the situation changes, they pay no heed to them?

In other news, I worked on my diamond art as long as I could, but my back pain was wrapping around my legs, and even standing to work, I got no relief. I did some stretching and tried again. I think I managed almost two hours on it. It’s close to being done!

May 1, I will start my physical therapy. Hopefully, they will give me some workouts that will ease my pain, because none of the meds do very much for nerve pain. I’m about ready to go back on my turmeric supplements-I’d stopped them for a while due to recurring mouth ulcers, yet I never figured out the source.

They are finally gone. Maybe the use of my mouth guard at night helped. Who knows? Now maybe I’ll see if adding the turmeric back into my daily regiment of pills will help ease my pain.

Tonight, my brother invited friends to come for dinner and something he does called “riff tracks” while watching a silly movie. I had made plans to visit with a friend, but I told her to come another time, because she was coming near the time they are supposed to come.

Last night, we decided to stay in on our normal “date night” and missed an opportunity to see some old friends. We needed to save that money for upcoming expenses for remodeling the bus. Making sacrifices is necessary sometimes, but man, I hated missing out on seeing our friends. They promised a rain check!

Well, that’s it for this TMI post, brought to you by the letter W. 😜

Finishing Friday

The mountain range across the freeway was hidden by clouds, as was our peak.

I’m borrowing Dar’s title for yesterday’s project because I didn’t have time to blog yesterday.

I made a hat! This is with the brim down.

Yesterday was cool and cloudy, a great day to finish my crocheted hat. Personally, I like it better off my head. Why can’t I be a hat person?? I just hate the way it looks on my head. Maybe because there’s no hair hanging down like all the models show.

Neighbor Darcy also crochéts. I went to get some advice from him about how to attach the brim, which was constructed separately, and he was making a sweater for my doggy! He is so sweet and kind. She loves it and I love the color on her.

Brandy sporting her new sweater. That’s Darcy’s house you can see through the window.

The hat with the brim rolled up. I made my own Pom Pom too!

After a few trips back and forth to his house, I had my advice, a bag of scrap yarn, and a new sweater for Brandy. He said copy it to make Whiskey one and I just laughed and laughed. I’m not that good! I need a pattern. When I’ve been sewing as long as Darcy and Maria, then I can freehand things. Maria is also very kind and generous. I went to visit her the other day and came home with a sample of some delicious chai tea she had. I’m drinking it as I type this.

Other than sew, we went to Eloy to get a few things, including a snack for Mexican Train last night. I came in second , but there are no prizes given at this game night. Winners have the lowest score at the end of the game. Players just get bragging rights. I was complimented on the rock I found for David. When I find Karl again, I’m going to ask him to polish it for me. I’m sure there’s crystals in it! (We use rocks as our “trains” in the game, a practice started by the local rock hounds around here.)

Today will be spent enjoying the weather, since tomorrow’s forecast is for heavy rain. It would be our luck to get here during monsoon season! Still, as long as it’s not freezing, I don’t care. We have to run back to Eloy to get stuff for New Year’s Dinner, cabbage, black-eyed peas, and ham…maybe some cornbread. Jeez, I’ve been eating so much I hope I don’t get fat! I’ve been lucky enough to eat whatever I want and only had a couple of issues with the diverticulitis. I’ve stayed away from nuts and broccoli though.

I wish you all a safe and prosperous New Year!

Rollercoaster Weather Makes Allergies Activate

For some reason, I had low energy this morning until after my low carb breakfast of Cheddar cheese and summer sausage. Then by the time I left the house and made my way to Claudette’s, it had picked up some. Then the sneezing started. I told myself it was because of all the hair leftover from Paco (her long haired chihuahua), yet as the day wore on and the wind picked up, I had to reluctantly admit it’s probably this crazy weather that has activated my allergies again. Weird, since I’ve been taking allergy meds daily for almost two months now. The high today was 55 and tomorrow morning it will be 28, then by the weekend it will be into the 70’s!!

As soon as I get back into ketosis, I stay cold. It’s 54 outside, 71 inside, and I’m sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket, my eyes feeling tired…admittedly, there’s a fan on and I’m sitting on the part of the couch that is close to it, but I should not feel this cold. I’m fully dressed! I think it doesn’t take that much for me to get back into ketosis. I had my small breakfast along with my bulletproof coffee, and then I tried the new pepperoni pizza from Real Good with the cauliflower crust (if you saw my blog post today I did a review) and I will have a chicken thigh, salad, and some beans for dinner. I know, beans aren’t Keto, but that’s what we had, and I haven’t had much to eat today, so I will be ok.

I am trying to get back on track since I’ve been giving in to comfort this past couple of months. Like the crazy weather, my diet has been on a crazy rollercoaster as well. Still and all, I only gained about 9 lbs, but that even shows on my small frame. (I’m 4’9” for those who don’t know me) and I even had to go buy new pants, a size up mind you. 😡 I just have not had the willpower I normally do, but as things slowly get back to normal, I’m hoping to get control of myself again.

Well, I got off the subject for a second there, but let me just say I’m glad I don’t live in the Midwest right now! Several degrees below 0 is unthinkable for this Texas girl! I guess I’d rather deal with allergies!
