Christmas Week

Was fun and interesting. I’m grateful to have been around good friends, doing the kinds of things RVers do.

Christmas Eve, I still hadn’t heard from sister Barb, so we knew we’d be spending it in the park. Dave had just spiced up a pork butt for Christmas potluck with friends and planned to put it on the Ninja wood pellet smoker/grill.

We were also binging season five of Yellowstone, when there came an insistent knock on our door. We were “summoned” immediately to join them and not to bring a single thing because they had everything covered.

We didn’t know what was up, but covered the pork and got ready to go. When we got there, our friends Harm and Dawn, yes, his name is Harm, and Tom and Jean, invited us into their cabana covered outdoor “living room” which includes the picnic table to a delicious dinner! (Actually, Harm and Dawn live two spots over, but they are best friends.)

We were totally shocked, surprised and grateful that they thought of us and settled in to enjoy the meal, play a game after with friends that we sometimes see around the park but don’t know quite as well as the ‘best’ friends we are with all the time.

We enjoyed ham, broccoli salad, decadent sweet potato casserole with a brown sugar crumble topping, olives, and cornbread muffins. Desserts were fudge-home made by different friends and dropped off for all of us-and delicious peanut butter/chocolate covered nut clusters. Jean begged us to try the cheesecake, but we were stuffed!

Afterward, we played one round of Mexican train and decided to end the evening on a high note, thanking everyone profusely again for being so considerate and thoughtful.

Christmas day, we had agreed beforehand we were playing shuffleboard before our potluck dinner and some football game. That game ended up lasting three hours!! Dave and I just kept beating everyone in some fluke occurance! It was a Christmas miracle I tell you and we even doubled our entrance fee (so a whopping $8) so that was funny.

Everyone kept yelling that dinner was five, remember? Then it supposedly got pushed to six (it didn’t) because it just went on forever!

From left, Carrie, Andrea (Pebbles), Marinda (Ru), and NYJ (New York Jim).

By the end my back was tired and my knee cranky, but man it was fun! We ended up taking second place after all that. (something about the team grid) The potluck wasn’t well-attended as we hoped, but nice enough. Daves pork butt sliders were a hit and someone made the best broccoli casserole if ever had. Rich food is for Christmas thank goodness because if I ate what I’ve eaten the n two days like that always, I’d be a barn!!

Where I really screwed up was thinking eggnog was good to drink with the meal. Not!!! I was so full, I couldn’t sit down. I walked, I helped Sandy and Bill unload their car when they arrived, I paced and finally I went Ho, e to suffer in solidarity. Dumb! This morning I was all good and ready to walk again. 😁 I have been so restless for some reason.

Maybe I’ve been binge watching too much or something because man, I just need to move! I heard from all three boys, my brother, and that was nice. Josh called on the phone last night before bed and we talked for a good while. So its been a good week!

    1. Yes! Full of our West Jupiter family of friends!
I wish it would have been at my sister’s, but I understand that she probably had all the kids over or something.

  4. Sounds like an interesting day. I know the feeling of wanting to move. It’s been too cold here to (want to) walk in the morning (Feels like tems has been in low single digits).

Hopefully, after New Year’s I can practice some impulse control!
