The Sunday Message

Good morning, I’m so glad you’re here!

Next Sunday is Easter and I’m so excited we will still be here. I’m praying that God speaks to my husbands heart, and he goes to the church service. I’m sure it will be a beautiful thing to witness.

Today, the theme seems to be change.

From my personal study in Genesis, to what we learned in Sunday school, which was based on Romans 2, to the message this morning on Galations 3. They are all about changing our lives to more closely follow the Lord.

Where I am in Genesis 24, Rebekah is ready to leave her life and join Isaac, a man she’s never even met, yet she knows in her heart that God picked him for her. She left her family with no celebration, left her old ways, and followed the servant who lead her to Isaac.

In Sunday school this morning, we learned from Romans 2 not to be judge-y because we are not perfect either. We are all works in progress. His three tips were:

  1. Don’t ever quit. Once we start down the road to sanctification, we must keep going!
  2. Dont ever be satisfied. Self-transformation never stops! Its an ongoing thing.
  3. Don’t be overwhelmed. God never promised that the change would be easy. It is personal, though. It is our decision and we should learn to throw out the bad habits and replace them with good.

As an example to myself, I wrote down this: Since I quit nicotine, I should fill that void (and have been daily) with the word of God.

I quit drinking alcohol (for the most part), so I could fill that void by going back to volunteering someday.

Something that is good. Something I can do for others to get the focus off of myself.

Then, in the message, Pastor Blalock asked, Who Took the Pen? He was speaking on Galations 3:1-10.

The answer is of course the world. The Galations had forgot all the good lessons they had learned, and stopped the transformation of themselves, following what imposters and false preachers were saying.

The message is not to take the pen out of God’s hands. He has known the plan for your life before you were ever born. Let Him lead you where He wants you to go, not where you think you want to go.

The more you stay in the word of God, the clearer your path becomes. The easier the changes are that need to be made. There’s light at the end of the tunnel. We are living epistles. We should encourage and lift up each other. Don’t let anyone change the story that God is writing.

We belong to Christ, we are one in Christ.

Have a blessed Sunday and wherever you are in the world, I’m praying for you! I hope that you attend Easter Sunday celebrations at your own church and you get the call to follow Jesus. 🙏🌴

  4. Wonderful post, Kim. I’m also reading Romans — actually, chapter 7 — and in the Old Testament, I’m reading Judges. It doesn’t matter how many times you read the Bible, you always learn something new, and that’s what I love about it. It keeps you grounded which is very important to me.

    1. Yes! And once I started it was like I “hungered” for the word. I love Stephen Armstrong because of the way he explains the scriptures. He makes me understand what is written like nobody else.

      1. Absolutely! I used to listen to John Piper a lot, but sometimes he goes a little overboard with his enthusiasm. I’m an introvert, so it’s a bit much for me. My go-to resource is Matthew Henry’s Commentary. It’s free online, but I bought the actual book because it’s just that good.
