Value Quiet Time

How do you practice self-care?

In the mornings, I make a cup of coffee and study God’s word. I stay in our room with the dogs on the bed and the door shut. In a motorhome, its the only way to have silence for an hour or so.

At some point in the afternoon, I do my stretches and then walk to my fitness video when possible, which today is not. So when that happens, I rest, even if I don’t want to. If you can’t walk, you can’t walk. I’m limping at best.

I also try to stay hydrated especially in this dry air.

Lotion is a must as well, my skin is dry as a snake.

I get more quiet time in the afternoons -usually after my stretches -when I will write, or rest, or play Mahjong on the iPad, or watch something on Amazon Prime from my iPad. David usually takes an afternoon nap as well. 😉

Sometimes, I like to sit outside and just listen to the wind blowing through the aspens and pines around us. When well, I’ll take a walk around. Notice nature and take pictures of it. Here, in Colorado, there are so many opportunities for beautiful photos. Mountains, rivers, ponds and lakes. Flowers, wildlife, birds and bees, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, and more.

I think that is part of self care too, being in nature is good for your mental health.

How do you practice self care? I’d love to hear your ideas!

    1. I’m just trying to keep from hurting myself worse. I don’t push myself unless I feel whole enough to do it.
      I’m glad you feel good!
My dream is still to get back on my bike, its just taking a long time.

      1. I’d like to ride a bike again, but only on level ground.

      2. Yes, and we are definitely NOT on that here in the mountains. No paved roads in this camp. Lots of gravel and rocks. Even though e-bikes are ok on all terrains, my body can’t handle that.

    1. You only eat once a day? That doesn’t sound very healthy but you have to do what you think is good for you!
Walking is good. Lots of rest is good, especially after lots of exercise. 😉

  3. Spending time in nature is so cathartic, isn’t it? I bet you have such a magnificent view from your home and your ability to be with nature even moreso than the rest of us because of your location! I have friends who live in Boulder but I’ve never been even though I’ve heard it’s beautiful country! Thanks for sharing!
