Welcome Home

It’s nobody’s fault but mine.

Our side of the duplex, as yet unadorned.

There isn’t much to the front porch of this cute 3/2/1 duplex but it’s deep and the backyard has more appeal.

Later we will add more panels so they have extra room to run.

There are woods back there but my other neighbor says there’s a nice walking trail I’m welcome to come access when I’m up to it. More on that later.

Dave and I had just enough time to run and buy a rug for the living room and bedroom before the furniture people arrived. They got us set up and put together and then Dave went back to the bus to get more things.

Mind you, I was left here to wait for the appliance repair lady and made tons of trips up and down the hallway, in and out of the garage, no issues. And it was raining on and off all afternoon.

Heres a gallery of the pics I have taken so far. Not much, but you get to see some of the furniture anyway.

The “welcome” I alluded to happened later when I went out in the garage to get ice. There is a step at the back leading into the house. When I turned from the table, it was just there and my foot struck it and the next second, I was on my face. Now I know the meaning of kissing the pavement.

The pain was excruciating and I was frightened I had seriously injured myself. Busted my face up pretty good and hurt my left hand. Luckily, it looks worse today but I’ve applied ice enough times that the swelling has gone way down.

Dave was so scared, plus he had to be exhausted, no way was I going to the hospital. I know I should have in light of how hard I slammed the concrete with my cheek. I think I felt my brain rattle. It stung all night and sleep was difficult, but thank goodness, I felt no worse for wear this morning. I was even able to do a few minutes here and there of light exercise.

As you can imagine, I’m beautiful today. No need for makeup, one eye is a lovely shade of purple and red, nose scraped and somehow a patch under my eye is too. Poor David…I’m not sure how much more he can take, but he tended to me like always. He’s a saint!

Heres what’s funny/odd. My sister ToniAnn called out of the blue and when we finished talking about the move, I told her what I’d done and she said the same thing happened to her two days ago…in public! Oh no! I’d have been mortified. She and I make quite the pair, let me tell you. In side by side pics, we both look beat up but also so much like our mother. I think she looks great for 73, plus she’s lost about 50 lbs on Ozempic.

She did go to the ER via a good Samaritan. She was too shaken up to drive. Once there, another angel in the waiting room took care of her cause the nurses weren’t doing anything.

Evidently, her legs just went out from under her. She busted her lip and it bled profusely. I was more lucky than she. Mine just bled a little. Her knees are scraped up too and were bleeding. The good news is we are both alive and (sort of) laughing about it all today, so we are blessed I guess.

I’m going to get in my new oh-so-comfortable bed (props to Dave for lucking into a darn nice comforter set) and take my meds. Hopefully we both rest better tonight 😴🥱

Was super swollen again today and not much energy, but I’m sure that just goes with it.

Secondly, please be careful and safe, Kim. This sounds like a pretty hard fall you took, thankfully, nothing is broken.
