Blistering Heat

Where is the best place to go when the heat is intolerable? The beach, of course!

I was hoping the ocean would look just like it did so I could float in my new floaty chair that I’ve had for a month now.

Probably better for the pool.

The waves were low and close, so my plan was to go out past them and float. Ha! They only look flat from the beach. Getting past them meant strong swimming, which I accomplished twice…but only with my boogie board.

Smallish waves.

The clouds were dark on the horizon, meaning some lucky fisherman might have caught a shower, but nothing for us. The birds were fishing, always a good sign. Dave was ready to go try his luck when we heard a commotion behind us.

Some unlucky guy was stuck in the sand. My hero saved him by attaching his tow belts and pulling him out. The guy offered him a beer but he passed. He does good deeds for nothing all the time.

Poor guy was trying to turn around and got stuck. My Dave is the one in light blue getting ready to pull him to safety.

Dave probably save the guy a ton of money by helping him out. He’s such a good egg!!

I did get to float a bit, even though the waves kept bringing me back to shore. On my boogie board, I got out past the waves and even the waves that swelled up out there were not very good. It felt empowering to make it that far out though. So I stood on that sand bar a while watching and waiting for the next wave big enough to ride in, and the mullet jumping around.

Dave never caught a thing however. One tiny bait fish was about it, and that was in his cast net. I caught some dudes next to us on video playing a mean game of horseshoes.

No video but two stills.

I’m glad we had a decent day, because it might be our last this trip. The heat really took it out of me and I’m so tired. I might have gotten too much sun, because I fought a headache until about thirty minutes ago. I couldn’t eat dinner either. I’m fine now, but ready for bed. And yes, for those wondering, I wore hats all day. 😊

When we got home, I saw a weather notice that we were under a ‘blistering heat’ advisory. One never notices these things when enjoying the beach though.
