Fun and Games with Friends!

The water from the shower was hot and relaxing as it beat on my aching back, while outside the bus, Dave had wash water cascading down the windows. He wanted to wash the bus since this place we are staying allows it. The bus has not been properly washed since we’ve had it. A year and a half have flown by!

Our time here is growing shorter, we’ve so much yet to see and do! Peanut Island is a must-see, and our friends promised to take us there. Many eateries are also on the list, as was taking a long bike ride, but I’ve yet to even try it yet.

Yesterday, I forgot about shuffleboard until Dave reminded me. I played and won our first game with my partner, Jimbo, then we lost the second. Dave did the same with his partner. No one can win against Sandy, our resident pro, and I was equally unsuccessful at Chase the Ace last night.

That is the most enjoyable game I’ve ever played. Here we are, getting ready to “Screw Our Neighbor” last night.

18 players and two decks used! I’m peeking around Bev!

On the other side of me is the killer player, Sandy. I thought I’d be safe not sitting by the other card shark, Becky, but I was not.

If you never played, or even heard of it, the point is to be the last person alive with dimes left. We play with dimes because quarters are used to wash clothes here, so they are a valuable commodity! Anyway, one starts the game with five dimes. Every time you are caught with the Ace, you pay up one dime.

I thought the game would never end because of all the players and the fact that we played with two decks meant that you now have four of everything. Holding the King will stop the person next to you from passing you an Ace, but last night the joy of having the king was stolen every time. Sandy always got a king the same time I did!

The player who gets a two is also in danger if the Aces run out, and so on down the line. It took me almost two hours to lose my last dime, and my shoulders were aching so bad, I almost quit the game, but hung in to the end.

Here is an unrelated pic of the beautiful birthday card David gave me that I forgot to share.

Isn’t it pretty?
I now have the pink cover to go on my new iPad, and I’m happy to say I love it! He did good as always. 😍💕

The next big game to be played is the cornhole tournament in less than two weeks. I’m hoping to still be here to see it, or maybe even play in it this time, but we’ll see. Two of the regulars are outside practicing right now.

Activities and games make life so much more enjoyable with friends! I’m so glad we’ve made good friends here and we are actually considering coming back next year! Some of our friends are going to Largo next time, so we might do that too, we are still undecided. Stay tuned to find out!

  3. I agree about games making life more enjoyable. Although, I am really bad at Cornhole. lol A game my family likes to play is Left, Right, Center (LRC). Do you know that one? We also play a lot of Dutch Blitz, Euchre, and Farkle. So much fun. 🧡🌷🖖

    1. No, I don’t know that one or any of the other games you mentioned. I’ve played Mexican Train, Bunco, Bingo, Bocce ball, shuffleboard, and now Chase the Ace. (Screw Your Neighbor). Dave and sometimes play Phase Ten and Acey Duecey here at our RV, and with friends back home we play chicken foot. Ever played those?
