The Stark Museum of Art

One of Many Contributions

Mr H.J. Lutcher Stark pretty much built Orange, Texas.

His list of accomplishments is to long to list here but I will say that he is also the owner/builder of Shangri La, which I blogged on a few weeks ago.

There’s a theater-The Lutcher Theater, and of course, The Nelda C. And H.J. Lutcher Foundation.

Over the weekend, Dave and I took the n the Art Museum and it was amazing! So many different mediums of art but one theme running through the museum is Western Hustory.

Bronzes, ceramics, paintings, drawings, woven baskets. I felt like we were back in the southwest corner of Colorado again.

It would be a great place to volunteer so I could study the art more. Maybe, in time. Well, I’ll stop babbling and let the pictures do the talking. I didn’t even get a 10th of what was there, just a few that spoke to me.

Enjoy.

Might as well show you the hummingbirds.

After the Museum of Art, we made a side trip to LA (made a donation) and returned for dinner at Barry’s Mediterranean. I tried a Greek version of lasagna (can’t remember the name of it) but there is an odd spice in it and there is no tomato sauce in it. It’s an acquired taste, but I liked it better the second night. Dave had a gyro and couldn’t finish ha either. The hummus and pita bread might have filled us up. ☺️😋
