Whiskey, peeking out from behind the blinds.
Come this winter marks two years of full-time living in our Class A motorhome. We’ve no plans to stop at this point, and I’d say, RV living suits us right down to the ground!
There are pros and cons, sure, but the same is true for bricks and mortar homes. You make do with what you have, you budget for emergencies, you shop wisely, pick affordable (when possible) RV parks and Resorts.
We visit family often during trips back to Texas, however, this year we don’t plan on going home until after the upcoming winter. The boys are moving on and up in age, and their lives. Josh isn’t in Texas anymore and Chris is looking to change careers as well, and when he does, he will be traveling far from home. Sean is the oldest and still lives in Texas as does my brother. They both understand the reasons and are fine with our choice.
It’s a matter of distance and our plan to go from here in Colorado come the fall to North and south Carolinas and then Florida again for the winter. It simply isn’t affordable to go home for a break, nevermind how expensive all of that would be. So we will we on our own for the year.
So far, so good. Yes, we have had some ups and downs with the motorhome, but all in all, we’ve been blessed. I don’t believe in luck…I say blessed!! The Lord has watched over us and kept us safe. But do we talk of living in a house again someday? Sure! That doesn’t mean we are ready to do it yet, but we think about our options all the time.
We have lots of fun plans ahead. We’re starting to make plans for the trip to North Carolina, even though we wont leave here until mid to end of September. When we have stayed our two months here in Echo Basin RV Ranch we will scootch over to Dolores, and stay two months there, then we start the long trek to Maggie Valley NC (maybe).

I put the map up again to show the distance from here to Dolores isn’t far. I hope you can see it, or expand it.

As you can see, the route we’ve chosen to get to NC goes through Texas, Ok, Ark, and TN -all exciting places to visit on our way. I personally can’t wait to go through Tennessee again, hopefully we will have more than a day to explore! Dave said it will take us 5-6 days to get there.
Besides learning Mahjong, Dave hopes to add fly fishing to his hobby list, and I’ve started looking for rocks too for my hobby of tumbling rocks. I’m exited for the possibilities of trips to new places (always) for the things we’ll see, the people we will meet (or revisit), and the things we will do along the way.

This is a Thunder egg that was cut in half revealing this surprise inside! Found in Chihuahua Mexico by a pro. Nature is amazing!
We know what to expect once we get to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida, but what about all the places along the way that we go through? That’s one of the things that make RVLife so fun!
Our pets and companions, Whiskey and Brandy take this lifestyle in stride, but they don’t have the freedom they did in a bricks and mortar home with a yard. For that, I feel bad. That’s why we like parks with off-leash areas, so they have a little freedom, but not all resorts have those. (like this one)

I am nurturing both my spiritual as well as my physical well being, and feeling better for it. My goal is to finally feel good enoughto ride my e-bike again. If I stick to my PT and my walking goals, I pray I can get back on it someday. My nerve pain is such that it comes and goes, and right now I can’t take the chance on reinjuring myself (and I’m scared). Especially around here, with the rocks and gravel roads, and the crazy hills and other unpaved roads.
Dave is just happy to be Dave. He takes everything in stride, his motto being whatever will be will be. We clash on this point, but I don’t dwell on it. He does himself and I do me and we all get along great that way. If you’re reading between the lines, that means I don’t push him on my way of enjoying the lifestyle, and he allows me to do what makes me feel comfortable. Does that seem reasonable?? If not, please comment.
Tomorrow is date night, and I don’t have a plan. Maybe we will agree on what to do and have a fun, enjoyable night. Usually the plan is to find a margarita somewhere and dinner. I doubt it will be here. Last week we stayed in, meaning I missed game night, but I was ok with it. This place isn’t like others we have gone to. Its harder to meet people and make good connections. I feel I’m making friends with Judy and that is wonderful. I’d love for us to go have dinner and then attend game night, but we will see. I want us to do fun things together, like yesterday!
What else do you want to know about our lifestyle? I can answer most questions, except financial…that is Dave’s department! Trip planning, tips and tricks, blogs I read or sources I use including apps, I’m your girl. If you or someone you know is interested in living full-time in an RV of any size, I can answer or point you to someone who can. I read reviews and provide them too. I read tons of articles, blog posts, and stories of other people living this lifestyle. I know the magazines, blogs, books and more that deal with this lifestyle.
A final note: I believe this life is sustainable for as long as you want it. You take care of your home on wheels, and yourself, you can go as far and for however long you want to!
