Rocks, Writing, and In-Between

The other day I decided it was time to start a new batch of rocks tumbling. I’m already at stage two of the run cycle. There’s what they looked like before.

Dave added a couple into this batch, they are slightly bigger than these. He retrieved them from down by the river.

I have also spent three days of this week getting myself beatified. My nails were trash and would not hold any attempt of mine to keep the polish on. So I sought professional help.

The first visit to the salon was for my fingernails. She didn’t have time for a pedicure, so I scheduled that for two days later. The next day I went back for a trim, or so I thought. My hair had all broken off in the back, so she had to cut it all around to make it look right. So yeah, back to short. She also strongly suggested is spend the money on a special conditioner to stop the breakage.

I did and my hair felt better almost immediately. I’m also to stay away from heat tools for a little while. That means my look is very boyish right now, but whatever u have to do to get my hair healthy again. The next day, I got the pedicure and all feels right with me again.

In between I’ve had a phone appointment with the VA, which was finally achieved after going into town and getting near the closest tower. I had to wait for her to call me back for 45 minutes just sitting in a gas station on the hill just to get her to order my much-needed hormone. Ugh! She could do nothing about getting my CT scan scheduled for Florida, so I decided to just wait until we get to Florida and i will work that out.

I’ve also been walking but neglected my exercises for two days. I had to put that right today, but in the meantime, I took a few pics. I walk to the river every day, and each day I go it looks different to me. It rises and falls with the rains, which we have been getting on and off all week. The temps have lowered into the 70’s and it feels like fall is on the way soon.

We left after the call with the VA to get a better look at the lake. On the way there and back, we captured a doe and her fawns. Never saw the buck that surely was in the area.

I’ve been in a very creative zone this week and am working on two separate stories. One is for “On the Premises” based on the subject of expertise. It isn’t going as well as my other story based on meeting Barbara, my sister, but I’m writing it like a fictional meeting. That one is on Reedsy.

I’m sure they both need some work, but the deadline is drawing near, so I must get busy!

At night, we are still enjoying our DVDs we check out from the local library. I didn’t want to wait for season two of 1923, so we will be starting season one of Yellowstone soon. 1883 and 1923 were epic, so I have high hopes for Yellowstone. Staying on a western kick, we also watched Into the West, and Lonesome Dove. Dave has been reading books like crazy and had just finished Lonesome Dove, proving the book is always better.

So that’s life lately, I’ll keep you updated on the rocks once they are done and also what happens with my stories. One is a no fee contest but the other is not. I also wrote and had one published on Reedsy but didn’t pay the fee because I didn’t feel it was good enough.

It’s starting to storm again, the sky turned dark and it looks more like 8pm even though it’s only 4:30! I hate the air coming on when the temps are so low, it keeps me cold and tense. I’ve got music going in my earbuds, so I’m reluctant to quit writing, but the time is drawing near for dinner and DVDs.

Catch you all on the flipside, have a great weekend!

PS: Chris got his first break and is home and staying with my brother until his next assignment…hopefully North Carolina. Someday soon, I pray we find ourselves together again. 🙏

  2. It sounds like you are doing great with the rock tumbling all of your crafts! That is so cool that when you go down by the river you see different health every time! That is cool that Dave really likes to read. As we know, that is good for the imagination!
Sounds like you have everything you need right now. You got your hair and nails fixed up. So how much longer will you be there? And where will you be going next? That is great news about Chris. How long will he be at your brothers?

    1. Yes, I’m good for a while!
I don’t know if Chris just spent the night once and then went to Sean’s or what. I’m trying not to bother him cause work has him stressed.
That is exciting you are going to the movies. I haven’t done that in over two years!
Also watch YouTube because there are tons of faith based movies!
