Shameless

Not me, but you get the picture!

Whelp, its 0832, raining, dark, and 54° so guess where I am?

Go ahead, I’ll wait….

Yep! Shamelessly still in bed, wrapped in a sweater and with my over-sized sweatpants on. I’m sorry, I just can’t help it. Even my fingers as I type this are freezing.

Why get up? I’m not going anywhere in this mess. So I should get dressed to sit around in the living room and huddle into myself until I’m so stressed out and rigid I can’t move?

It’s not an exaggeration. I’m really that cold. I’ve had my breakfast and coffee, I’ve been awake since 4am cause my husband has been awake that long. I’ve done my Bible reading and study, read all my emails, practiced my Portuguese, and read every interesting piece on Substack.

Nothing else to do but write, read, watch tv, or create something, which I can do all from right here, warm and toasty (sort of) in my bed.

If I were the brave type, which I’m not, I’d bundle up and take the umbrella and what? Go for a walk? Dave just took both dogs out to potty, no coat or umbrella and I froze for him.

I just told him I may not get out of bed all day and he replied “Why should you?” so I feel justified.

When and if the sun comes out later, I might change my mind. The high will be 66° supposedly, but windy, so it will feel cooler.

No. I’m not ready for winter and it seems fall either!

  1. That does sound cold to me, too. Just try to stay warm, and enjoy a jammies day. We have some days like that once in awhile. 🙂

    1. Thanks. I couldn’t do it. I stayed there til my back hurt too bad and I got up and got some walks in and my exercises. Next week will be warmer and I’m thankful for that!

  2. I’m glad you are happy and warm in bed.

Only once did I stay in bed to keep warm. After a blizzard, we had no heat for a week. Most of the time I was cobbling meals together, keeping children occupied, or huddling by the fireplace. Bed was a retreat.

    1. I stayed there til around noon and got up and as it warmed up, I shed some clothes, did my exercises and walked a few times. I sure hope my medicines come next week though, its hard when you’re in constant pain.
I know, I’m a big baby but cold does hurt. (me anyway)

      1. Pain is not easy to live with.

      2. No, its not and trying to get your VA issues sorted out is also hard to live with. Doctors don’t work as a team, meds don’t get delivered on time, etc.

  3. Hi, Kim! Are you traveling this winter to warmer climates?

    1. Yes, praise be! We will be in the same spot in Florida as last year and I can’t wait. I just have to stay healthy til we get there! Once I get back to the VA there, I hope to get another nerve block injection. That helps so much. The fact that I’ve been getting around with none of my meds is miraculous! Hopefully, they come next week.

  4. Haha. I’m ready for Autumn to come in full swing! Yesterday, the high was 64°. Today is still rainy and windy, and the high is supposed to be 72°. But I honestly do not think it’s going to make it to that temperature.

    And this!!!

“Dave just took both dogs out to potty, no coat or umbrella and I froze for him.

I just told him I may not get out of bed all day and he replied “Why should you?” so I feel justified.”

Do what you feel like you should. Stay warm and enjoy your day! 😊

    1. I wish my back would let me stay in bed all day, but of course, I eventually got up and did all my normal stuff. Got my exercise and walks in so I don’t feel completely useless, lol!

  5. Are you still in bed? I think that Colorado is going to stay cold probably. Friday is going to start fall. It is 90° here today and muggy. The temperature will start going up into the late 90s this weekend. It appears that I think last week I jarred my ribs again so I have an appointment to see my PCP tomorrow. She fix this maybe a yr and 1/2 ago. Hope you warm up!

    1. Jarred your ribs? That’s awful! I hope you feel better soon!
No, I got up, got dressed, and eventually did my exercise and took a couple of walks. I put shorts on for the walk but kept my sweatshirt on and it was quite nice.
Its been in the forties at night and 60’s all week. 68 was the high today but it will drop to 41 tonite but we are done with rain for now.next week we will be back into the 70’s!

  6. I feel you. My only trouble with keeping summer is all the smoke and fires. And flies. I can’t breathe or take off more clothes. In the fall I can add socks. And I miss seeing snow. And I’m a So Cal barefoot queen who loves swimming.

Maybe we can go for walks soon. I’ll take the slightly cooler with hot coffee and yarn.💜💜💜

  9. I have been enjoying cooler mornings (high 40s). Yesterday, it got up to 84 in the afternoon and I wanted to hide in a col dark room. I loved your line that you froze for Dave 😉

    1. Its amazing to me that temp variations don’t even faze him. I’m not sure why I am so hypersensitive!
