From Trinity Baptist Church
What a good day in church this morning, plus a first!
We have never been called to join the pastor for prayer at the front of the church before the service ever began, but that happened today!
If something was on our heart to pray about, we were invited -strongly- to bring ourselves to the front with pastor Kevin and put our hands on the one in front of us to show support for them. It was so moving I cried.
I was so happy that Dave joined me. I’m sure he didn’t want to be called out for not getting up. But all was good and we sat down ready to hear the message.
Based on John 10: 7-18
Jesus is our shepherd. He is the gate too. He is the way, the truth, and the light. We who know his voice will not be deceived. Those who don’t, will be led astray. Do you know who your shepherd is? Can you be so secure in your faith and Bible knowledge that some slick pastor who preaches lies can’t fool you, or will you sit there nodding and saying “amen.”
I pray you do. And if you don’t, it’s not too late to start! Start tomorrow!
Get up early, set an alarm if needed. Open your Bible and do the devotional. Then pick a plan, any plan. Choose to learn as much as you can. Day by day the pull to know God’s voice will be undeniable. You won’t feel right until you’ve cracked that book and done your study time for the day. Your day will be better, your week will go smoother. Trust me, you will calm down. Worry will melt away, because you will rest in the wisdom of God.
I can testify to this because I am a prime example. When I made the decision to start, I never looked back. Most mornings I’m up by 5am and I study until I’m done. My methods may not work for you. You might only have 15 minutes and that’s fine! That’s a start!
That’s not all though. Get involved. If you have a church, don’t just attend every Sunday and call it a day. Please, at least go to one fellowship opportunity. Volunteer for something. It will bring you more joy than you can imagine. Last week, I attended a home group and a prayer group. Each took just an hour or so out of my day. I know, you work and I don’t. But hey, lots of home groups are in the evening. I can’t go to those because of my vision, but maybe as I ge5 to know people more, someone might offer to take me with them.
I’m signed up for RISE on May 2, which also corresponds with Riverfest. I told a member today that if my son comes, I might bow out but otherwise, I’m planning to be there. It’s a few hours, I can sacrifice that when Riverfest is five days long. I won’t miss anything. Besides, what is more important for my soul? I think you know the answer! ☺️🙏
