Termite Season??

Keep the Lights Low

So, outside right now if feels like a hot, wet blanket. You don’t want to talk or breathe much lest you inhale a love bug. The air is thick with them flying along joined to their mates. Slow but so persistent. Swatting is not effective unless you have an electric flyswatter,

I wish it would just rain really hard and get it over with! And now you say it’s termite season???

Yes. It’s a thing, evidently. When the last hurricane swept through, it downed lots of trees. Well, being they were part of the woods, they just rot and I guess they bred termite colonies which swarm for a few days. Luckily, we somehow automatically kept our lights low enough that they didn’t swarm our house.

Dave tried to take Whiskey out around 9 last night and came right back in complaining about the bugs. He turned on the porch light, a no-no during this time of the termite. I had no idea the swarm began last night and neither did he. Jim, my handy next-door-neighbor told me it started last night and was waiting to hear that we had been over run but I told him we had no issues.

See, if you keep bright lights on, they will come in through the attic and vents and fly around in your house!! I’m so glad that didn’t happen. From now til its over, we won’t use our porch lights either!

Its been a slow day around here in general. I got my new zentangle kit and I’m excited to have a new set of good and proper micron pens. Plus it came with the little cards that you do the tangles on, so I’ll be extra careful and not draw a hot mess like this:

I messed up on her eye stalk, among other things. Practice, I need more practice!

I started another snail yesterday, but I’m already not happy about it. We will look again today and see if it can be saved, lol.

I was out earlier with my pups and I guess it was too hot for them. They flopped down in the grass, uninterested in walking around.

We might get some rain Wednesday 🤞

I go to Dr Lo tomorrow for my follow-up. I will relate that I’m still hurting but it’s somewhat better. A couple of new occasional symptoms too. That will make him be able to better determine the next steps, be it surgery or something else.

I’m just happy the termites aren’t the kind that eat your house. They are more of a nuisance for a few days and then they’re gone.

Like me, gotta go feed these “starving” dogs. 😂🤣
