Hello and happy day after Halloween, which means today is Día de los Muertos!

Chris has come for a visit and well-deserved break from his grueling schedule. We went to dinner last night to celebrate his (Oct 23) birthday 🥳 at our usual place, Frijoles.

After arriving back at my brother’s house, we prepared to hand out candy to the few trick-or-treaters he gets and I actually took some pics!

As you can see, even the dogs got in on the fun! I should have dressed them up, but we don’t have their clothes here with us.

I hope we have time to meet up with more friends and family while Chris is here, but just his arrival got me feeling better!

Oh, I guess i neglected to tell you all that this week, I somehow contracted aspiration pneumonia. I have a problem with choking; on saliva, on drinks, and once in a while, even food. Because of all this and me getting the pneumonia, they now want to do a swallow study.

I watched my dad go through this, due to his Parkinson’s, so I’m not looking forward to it, but as slow as the VA is, I’ll be surprised if it gets ordered while I’m here.

My antibiotics have helped as well and I believe I’m on the mend. I had to be seen outside the VA at a Care Now that honors the Mission Care Act. They xrayed me and made the diagnosis and I followed up with my primary doc yesterday.

We got my medicine straightened out as well, and discussed the swallow test and an endoscopy due to my constant heartburn and occasional acid reflux. Ugh!

Getting older is not for wussies!

Chris is good medicine and keeps me laughing, always regaling us with humorous stories from work and his escapades at the hotel bar.

He is seeing someone new named Gracie, which is nice, but she is much younger, so I’ve a feeling it will be short-lived. Right now they are in the getting-to-know-you stage.

Well, if we meet up with other friends and family, I’ll be sure and take some pics! Wish us luck as he has limited time here, so that’s a tall order. There is an old friend of his I want to surprise, and a cousin whom he has never met.

Yes, if you are wondering, we had candy left and I will make it my purpose to find a way to get rid of it this weekend by handing it to as many people as I can, lol! We don’t need it around here!
