Here in the park, we have a camper that goes by “Shy”, however, he is anything but! He is quite the character.
I’m not sure, but I think he is from Chi-town, and that may be where he gets the nickname. I laughed at one of his humorous comebacks one day-first day I met him- and he replied with, “What are you laughing at?” Not knowing him yet, I thought he was being mean. I soon learned, he has an incredibly quick wit, which I do not possess!
I am not shy unless you ask me to speak in public. I can sing, dance, or be the center of attention in a crowd, but ask me to give a speech, speak at a funeral, or anything else like that? My voice shakes, my eyes tear up, I get emotional and nervous, and can’t get past myself. I need to take a class in public speaking like my hubby Dave did. It helped him so much. Toastmasters is what it was.
Writing is where I found my “voice” and I can say most anything I feel like saying. (within reason) I try to stay away from political opinions, yet stand by my convictions. There is one area I’m not shy about. I don’t write about politics. I don’t know enough about them to anyway.
I let people know about my love for Jesus without (I hope) being preachy. Isn’t it nice that we have a place like our blogs to share a message on Sunday, that anyone can visit, where I can be honest about how I interpret the sermon or verse of the day without fear of retribution. Thank God we live in a free nation!
Dont be shy about commenting or suggesting ways to improve my blog or just to stop by and say hello! We are all family here in the blogosphere. I do try to get back to you the best I can.
One last note, my husband is more shy than me when it comes to making friends and “getting out there” but he has come a long way, baby! He went golfing with some friends he made here this past Sunday, he comes to game nights, watches games in the clubhouse with the guys, and offers help to anyone he sees who needs it. He plays shuffleboard and cornhhole with the gang. I am so excited about this yet I don’t push him if he doesn’t want to join in. Not anymore.
